Life & Work with Gabrielle Stuart-Betzel of Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabrielle Stuart-Betzel.

Hi Gabrielle , can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always loved art and being creative. Whether it was painting, crafting, or working with my hands, I’ve always been drawn to creating something meaningful. That passion eventually led me to floral preservation, where I found the perfect way to combine creativity with preserving life’s most treasured memories.

The journey began when I preserved my own wedding flowers. I loved being able to turn something so meaningful into a lasting piece of art, and it quickly became a passion. Soon after, I began preserving flowers for friends, and seeing how much they cherished having their special blooms preserved inspired me to turn that passion into a business. That’s when Florielle was born.

Today, I help people preserve the flowers that represent some of life’s most meaningful moments—weddings, anniversaries, memorials, and other special occasions. Every piece is carefully handcrafted, from drying each bloom to designing a custom layout that reflects the beauty and sentiment of the original bouquet.

As Florielle has grown, my focus has remained the same: creating high-quality, one-of-a-kind artwork while providing a personal experience for every client. It’s incredibly rewarding to know that the pieces I create allow people to relive cherished memories every time they see them in their homes.

I’m excited to continue growing Florielle and helping clients preserve the flowers that tell their stories for years to come.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like many small business owners, one of my biggest challenges has been building a business from the ground up while wearing many hats. From mastering floral preservation to managing my website, marketing, client communication, and daily operations, it’s been a continuous learning experience.

More recently, balancing entrepreneurship with becoming a new mom has added a new challenge. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to grow Florielle while raising my family.

Each challenge has helped me grow, and seeing the joy clients experience when they receive their preserved flowers makes all the hard work worthwhile.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What sets Florielle apart is the care and artistry behind every piece. Each flower arrangement is preserved and designed by hand with a focus on capturing both the beauty and the emotion behind the flowers, creating a truly personal keepsake.

I’m most proud of the trust my clients place in me and being able to turn such meaningful, fleeting moments into lasting artwork they can cherish for years.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I see risk-taking as a necessary part of growth, especially as a small business owner. Starting Florielle was my biggest risk, turning a creative passion that began with preserving my own flowers and friends’ bouquets into a business with no guarantees.
