Inspiring Conversations with Bret Miller of Sports History Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bret Miller.

Hi Bret, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Grew up in Southern California as a huge Los Angeles Lakers fan. I had always wondered why the Lakers, being in CA, were called the Lakers. Once I found out why they are called the Lakers, I thought there were other teams with similar stories. So I created a website called Sports Team History, and it explains how the team got to their location and why they are nicknamed as they are. From that start, I got excited about each team’s logos, so I created a second site called Sports Logo History. I have managed both sites for over 13 years, and I call them my babies. Later, I added two more sites, Sports News History and Sports Store History, to complement the other two Sports Histories. Finally, I created an LLC as an umbrella to manage all of these sites for now.

Let me know if you have any questions.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I originally created the sites as a hobby, and as they have grown, I have thought about working on them on the side and seeing where it goes. As for monetary gains, it has been up and down. But I am trying to see if it can gain more exposure across the nation and the world. They are all very large sites, so managing them is very time-consuming.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sports History Group?
Created an LLC of Sports History Group in 2022. I am the creator, manager, website manager, and SEO manager for all websites. I am the logo guy, who knows more about logos and team history than most. The network is what sets us apart from our competition. When you see that all four sites are linked together, which gives you logo history, team history, current news, and a store to shop for your favorite teams’ apparel, everyone will love it. I love logos and can talk about them all the time, so if you have questions, I am the one to call.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
This is a pretty flat line industry. There will always be new logos being created and shown. Sports History will always be accumulating. The news will be constant, and the fans’ appetite for their favorite team will always be strong. I believe it definitely could grow; however, only a little at a time.
