Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Schmidt, CLU, QPFC.
Hi Lauren, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my practice in June 2015 and my main driver was to help others become confident in protecting their finances as well as building their finances. I did not grow up in a household that was “fluent” in money, so I wanted to change the narrative.
The first five years of this journey were the toughest. Figuring out where I could best fit in with different types of people I was meeting created the foundation of my practice today.
From then on, I was able to find tune my process along the way
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a bumpy road, but in the best way possible! I learned early in my career that nothing worth doing in the long run would be easy in the short run.
Creating a business centered around financial planning is simple but not easy. Two very different things.
The biggest struggle has been building my business on recommendations and connections of people I meet. I find this to be the best design as it allows me to work with people I align with on a personal professional and financial level.
The bond between my clients and myself remain solid due to the trust this has created between us, again creating higher quality in the long run.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Truicty Wealth Management was created by my partner! He combined the words “trust” and “authenticity.” We build our clients legacy by keeping trust and authenticity at the forefront.
We are here to help as we have found that many of us are plagued with the things that are urgent, but rarely important which creates stress from not being able to get the most important things done like spending time enjoying the people and things you love most.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I highly recommend networking wherever you can. Remember, networking is about making genuine connections! It’s not going to events and leaving with a handful of business cards…. It’s connecting with people on a personal level and find ways to help each other professionally as time goes on.
I love networking in my community through charity events I sponsor or hobbies I have.
I have met some great friends and clients through my local dance studio, my gym, and travels.
I also highly recommend a Mentor. You can’t get solid advice from someone who hasn’t been where you are going. Find somebody you envy and admire and identify with and they will help you go above and beyond. They will be the number one person to get you through the hardest times as well.
