Check Out Alisha Hargis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alisha Hargis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
When I got married in 2019, I had followed my photographer on social media for awhile and knew I wanted to book her. We ended up hitting it off really well and I was able to shadow her at a Wedding she did not long after mine. It wasn’t long after she sold me my first camera and I did everything I could to get work & learn.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was anything but smooth. However, I think I have the valleys to thank for why I’m so grateful for where I am today.

When I first started photography, I was learning an entirely new skill while juggling multiple jobs—up to five at one point. What began as a creative outlet quickly became something I couldn’t stop pursuing. Before long, I realized it had the potential to become so much more than a hobby.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently specialize in Wedding and Maternity photography, but honestly, I photograph all kinds of sessions—families, headshots, newborns, events, and more. I genuinely love the variety and the unique stories each session brings.

The growth of my Wedding photography has been especially rewarding. When I first started, I was convinced I wouldn’t even enjoy photographing weddings. Now, they’re one of my absolute favorite things to capture.

I’m incredibly proud of the experience I offer my clients today. It’s so much more than simply delivering an edited online gallery at the end of the day. It’s the relationships built throughout the planning process, the thoughtful preparation that goes into each session, and the joy of watching it all come to life.

Being trusted to document some of life’s most meaningful moments is something I’ll never take for granted. Every session, wedding, and milestone reminds me why I fell in love with photography in the first place.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I used to be quite the risk taker, but since becoming a mother, that’s kind of gone away. These days, I find myself thinking things through a little more carefully and appreciating stability in ways I never did before.

I do think making the decision to pursue photography full-time was a pretty big risk, but it was one I was willing to take in order to spend more time at home with my son.

Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It gave me the opportunity to build a career I love while also being present for the moments that matter most.
