Meet Lacey Binns of Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacey Binns.

Hi Lacey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m Lacey, a Midwest girl with a love of shopping and styling both my wardrobe and my home. When my 9 to 5 wasn’t giving me the creative outlet I craved, I started Life Without Louboutins as a space for sharing ideas with others who want to cultivate a stylish life on a budget. I love playing with personal style and encouraging others to do the same. Everyone deserves to feel confident and beautiful in their own skin!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Over the years, I have had times when I either had no energy left to give to having a blog space or simply just didn’t feel like creating that time and energy for it. Imposter syndrome being what it is, there have been times when I’ve questioned whether or not to have it any longer. At the end of the day, this is a space for me to express myself creatively and in a way that is fun and authentic to me. If I’m being me, then I’m never being an imposter. Having this space has helped me to realize that and embrace it more fully.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I’ve known for changes a little depending on the chapter of life I’m in, but overall I’m most known for my love of fashion. And by that I don’t mean simply buying and wearing clothes. I love runway collections, documentaries on designers, reading about the history of fashion houses, going to exhibits; I LOVE fashion. I’ve been fortunate enough to attend Fashion Week events and speak to designers who have been surprised when I am able to talk to them about the history and business of fashion given I’m there as a ‘media personality’.

My blog started as a place where I focused on that love of fashion, but evolved as my own life did. While I still enjoy all of those things, I have also created a beautiful home for myself and enjoy sharing that space and that creative side of me, too. Lately, I have been leaning into trying new recipes as I do enjoy cooking and baking. So more people ask me about that part of my life and what I share on the blog and socials now, too.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
My favorite thing about KC is all of the different pockets of the city. One of my favorites it the West Bottoms, where old factories and warehouse buildings have been converted into home decor and antique shopping. First Friday Weekends in the West Bottoms are my absolute favorite time to shop anywhere in KC. You always find treasure.

My least favorite thing about the city is probably how spread out we are. Luckily, we don’t have traffic that is too terrible, but the drive time to get to things can be tedious.
