Today we’d like to introduce you to Iqbal Singh.
Hi Iqbal , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into photography and videography started from a genuine passion for storytelling and capturing meaningful moments. What began as a creative hobby in high school quickly turned into something much bigger as I realized how much I enjoyed creating.
Over the years, I dedicated countless hours to learning my craft, investing in equipment, refining my editing style, and gaining experience through a wide variety of shoots. If that was working for my college news paper, working weddings, or just capturing for fun. As my work grew, so did my love and passion for creating art.
Today, I own and operate ItsBaliVisuals, where I specialize in wedding photography and cinematography. I’ve had the opportunity to document weddings and events across different cities and cultures, which has helped shape my storytelling approach. My focus has always been on creating authentic, emotional, and cinematic work that reflects each couple’s unique story.
What started as a passion has grown into a career that allows me to connect with incredible people, travel, and preserve some of life’s most meaningful moments.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many creative entrepreneurs, one of the biggest challenges was building a business from the ground up while continuing to develop my skills and establish my name in a highly competitive industry.
In the beginning, I wore every hat imaginable—photographer, videographer, editor, marketer, salesperson, and business owner. Learning how to balance the creative side with the business side was one of the biggest hurdles. There was a constant need to improve my craft while also managing client relationships, marketing, finances, and everything else that comes with running a business.
Another challenge was learning to trust the process. There were periods when growth felt slow, and it was easy to compare myself to others in the industry. The wedding industry is incredibly competitive, and there are so many talented artists creating amazing work every day. At times, it was difficult not to measure my progress against theirs. Over time, however, I learned that consistency, hard work, and staying focused on serving my clients well were far more important than comparison.
Those challenges ultimately helped me grow both as a creative and as a business owner. Looking back, every obstacle taught me something valuable. The struggles shaped my work ethic, strengthened my passion for photography, and made me appreciate every opportunity and every client who has trusted me to capture some of the most important moments of their lives.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
What I’m most proud of in my business is the inspiration behind my work. The look and feel of my photography comes from the wedding albums our parents treasured. Being raised in a Punjabi household, weddings are rich in color, culture, and emotion. Those older photographs carried a certain glow and richness to them—a timeless quality that often feels missing in today’s imagery. That’s what I strive to bring back.
For me, photography has always been about more than just images. It’s about creating photographs that feel like stories bound in time. That sense of nostalgia and legacy is something I deeply connect with, and it continues to guide my work today.
My approach is rooted in my culture, which I’m incredibly proud of, and in that, I focus on capturing genuine moments as they naturally unfold rather than on overly posed or staged imagery. I want every frame to feel authentic and deeply personal to each couple’s story and heritage.
What I’m most proud of is being able to create work that people don’t just see, but feel. Being trusted to document such meaningful milestones is something I never take for granted. Whether it’s a quiet in-between moment or a major celebration, my goal is always to preserve the emotion behind it in a way that will last for generations and be something that could one day be in the next family album.
What makes you happy?
What makes me happiest is being able to serve others through my work and use my creativity in a way that uplifts people and preserves their most meaningful moments.
A lot of that comes from my upbringing and the values I learned through Sikhi. Seva (selfless service), humility, and caring for others were lessons I saw practiced every day by my family. Those values continue to guide me and have shaped how I see my purpose—not just as a photographer and filmmaker, but as someone responsible for capturing and honoring people’s stories with genuine care, respect, and intention.
Photography and filmmaking, for me, became an extension of that mindset. Every wedding or event is an opportunity to serve a family by preserving memories they’ll hold onto for generations. There’s something deeply fulfilling about knowing that my work will live in their homes, in their albums, and in their memories long after the day has passed.
I also find happiness in staying grounded in gratitude, being thankful for every opportunity, every client who trusts me, and every moment I get to witness. It keeps me connected to my roots and reminds me that this work is not just about creating beautiful images but about serving people with intention, love, and respect.
