Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Nicole.
Hi Madison, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Most things for me happened in 2020. That’s when I first started circus arts and when I started writing my first book. Like many people, COVID was incredible difficult. I lost my job and felt purpose less. I began reading a lot and then writing about my own mental health journey through the lens of a fantasy romance. Additionally, I began taking aerial arts classes. From there things began to spiral in the best way. I decided to self publish my book and then wrote many others. I joined the student performance company with my local circus and learned how to juggle. From there I didn’t stop doing either of those things which is mainly how I ended up with a circus romance series featuring queer artists.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Definitely not. Part of writing and performing is being bad at something and getting feedback and taking it appropriately. Sharing art is vulnerable and growing pains are inevitable. There were so many times where I felt pushed out of my comfort zone and quite literally wanted to crawl out of my skin. For self publishing, everything is your responsibility and it’s hard. You will make mistakes but the important thing is to keep going and do better next time.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At the core of who I am, I am queer storyteller. I am most proud to celebrate and show queer art. I write queer love stories across several sub genres such as fantasy, contemporary and paranormal. Additionally I am a circus performer with specialities in juggling, dance and character work. I am most proud of my ability to keep going, tell the story and make people feel something. There aren’t many juggling queer romance authors that I know and it is something I am incredibly proud of.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I have always loved performing so doing show choir, dance and many other random theatre shows were some of my favorite things as a child.
