Today we’d like to introduce you to Conrad Wright.
Hi Conrad, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I got started in 2006 printing t-shirts from my home. One day I got introduced to a man that had a screen printing shop that was looking for someone to pass it along to. I worked with Ted (the Owner) for about 2 and half years before he retired and left the business to me. I’ve printed t-shirts for concerts, family reunions, businesses, parties, marathons, political campaigns, neighborhood associations, hospitals and so on. You name it I more than likely have done it. I moved locations in 2010 to the urban core where I felt like I could do more for the community and there was no competitors for miles away and still none. The location is much bigger than the prior one and I also had the advantage of purchasing this location as well. It put me on another level that I could only imagine. Working consistently and doing good business have brought me longevity in this field.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There are always ups and downs in business and in life. Some days business might get a little slow and then there are days when your hands are full of projects. Having too much work is a great problem and the reward is satisfying! It’s definitely been a learning experience. You have to make sure you put money back into the business and not just in your pocket. Learning to save money for taxes and other expenses is a must. I think my biggest challenge is learning to pace to myself and not let work overwhelm me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
All my designs are original designs. I like for my customers to stand apart whether it’s t-shirt art or flyer art. Nobody should be confused on who’s who. I specialize in custom artwork and problem solving. I can work with just about any file or picture that is submitted to me. I know I have great computer skills and an artistic vision. Everyone can’t do what I do. I make designs in head and I know others don’t have that vision that I have.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I believe screen printing will continue to prosper. There are many different methods and textures already available for the customers. Screen printing has always kept up with the latest trends. Like glow in the dark t-shirts, puff prints and more. If anything the equipment will get better and the process will become faster.
