Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Morse.
Hi Cameron, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Cut Me Some Slack LLC was founded in 2021, as live music began returning across the United States following the pandemic. At the time, I noticed that very few people in my local community were helping bring the artists and bands that people wanted to see to Kansas City. Seeing that gap, I decided to step up and create Cut Me Some Slack.
In its early days, the company operated as a collective of friends, musicians, and creatives within the Kansas City music scene. We explored several different avenues, including music production, recording, merchandise manufacturing, and live event promotion. While some of those ventures were less successful than others, we found our greatest success in organizing and promoting live shows.
Over the past three years, I have taken the time to reevaluate and redefine the company’s mission. Today, Cut Me Some Slack LLC is focused exclusively on audio production. My goal is simple: to provide artists with the highest-quality recordings, mixes, and masters possible at an affordable price.
More than anything, this business is now driven by a passion for music and helping artists bring their creative vision to life. Moving forward, I have no plans to return to merchandise manufacturing or live event promotion. Cut Me Some Slack LLC is dedicated solely to professional audio services and creating great-sounding records that artists can be proud of.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was navigating the local music scene as a young promoter and business owner. When I started Cut Me Some Slack LLC in 2021, I was passionate about creating opportunities for artists and bringing bands to Kansas City that people wanted to see. As the company grew, I found myself facing criticism, conflicts, and challenges that come with operating in a close-knit creative community.
At the same time, I was also learning difficult lessons about business. Early on, Cut Me Some Slack attempted to take on live event promotion, merchandise manufacturing, recording, and other creative services all at once. While our live events were successful, trying to manage too many areas at the same time made it difficult to build sustainable systems and consistently deliver the quality I wanted.
Rather than allowing those setbacks to define me, I used them as opportunities to grow. Over the past three years, I have reevaluated my goals, refined my business model, and focused on what I am most passionate about: audio production. Today, Cut Me Some Slack LLC is dedicated exclusively to recording, mixing, and mastering. The challenges I faced taught me resilience, accountability, and the importance of staying focused on a clear vision, all of which have helped shape both me and my business into what they are today.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I currently work as a Shift Manager in the legal cannabis industry, where I’ve spent the last three years developing leadership, customer service, and operational management skills in a highly regulated environment.
Outside of work, I am passionate about music and audio production. I became involved in the Kansas City music scene in 2015 and have since focused on recording, mixing, and mastering music. I enjoy helping artists bring their creative vision to life and take pride in creating the best possible experience for the people I work with.
What sets me apart is my ability to connect with people, adapt to challenges, and continuously look for ways to grow both personally and professionally.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite book is The Tools by Phil Stutz. It had a major impact on my life and helped me better understand myself during my recovery from addiction. After struggling with alcoholism and drug addiction, and ultimately getting sober in early 2023, the lessons in that book helped me build healthier habits and a stronger mindset. It’s a book I still revisit regularly.
Another book that had a profound impact on me is The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success by Deepak Chopra. I discovered it during a period when I felt completely lost and broken, and it helped me find a new perspective on life and personal growth.
I’m also a strong believer in therapy. BetterHelp connected me with a therapist who has played an important role in my personal development and healing journey. Therapy has helped me evolve as a person, and I genuinely believe everyone can benefit from investing in their mental health.
As for podcasts, my favorite is Star Lores, a podcast dedicated to exploring the lore, stories, and characters of the Star Wars universe.
