Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Trentham.
Hi Kim, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my career in Beauty in 1989 with a cosmetology license. I specialized in Nails before transposition if to a 19 year career in Optical. About 11 years ago I decided to return to the Beauty Industry as it has been a lifelong passion of mine with the desire to serve women in looking and feeling their best. I became obsessed with learning Lash Artistry and currently hold over 35 advanced certifications, spent time as an instructor for Bella Lash, own and operate in KC Beauty Collective located in Waldo, as well as serve the lash community with supplies from my own brands at KCProLashSupply.com
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“The obstacle is the way.” Risking everything to start a business by leaving a secure and successful career in mid life is not for the faint of heart! Starting small but with a long term plan and vision served me well. Becoming an expert in the field and keeping quality and customer service in mind helped me to build a faithful and exclusive clientele. I have always stayed curious, humble, and passionate not only about my skills but stay committed to a total experience for my clients. I have been blessed with a full book and honored to serve mostly referrals whenever a spot opens up.
Diversifying my offerings saved me when burnout or lulls in business threatened. Instead of working less during times of business and life changes keep me engaged and helps me find new ways to serve my existing clientele and attract new.
The most valuable advice I can share with any of my students is always look at your business from your Client’s POV and strive to make improvements to the total experience for both of you.
We’ve been impressed with Glitter KC LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the owner of Glitter KC LLC where I operate as a Lash Artist and Nail Artist. I also own KCProLashSupply.com where artists can purchase supplies for local pickup and shipping anywhere in the US.
I’m known for my commitment to quality and per suit of continuing education and product offerings. I always customize the service to the client, and provide high end service. I don’t ever cut corners.
I am most proud of creating a space to work where the independent artists that share my space @elissamcdonaldesthetics, @treatkc, and lashedbykay share the same values and commitment. We create a place for our clients and eachother where quality and commitment to giving the best to our clients is our priority and passion.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Serving lash artist community both local and afar with KCProLashSupply.com and mentoring other lash artists is just as rewarding to me as serving my clients.
