Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb And Danielle Snowberg.
Hi Caleb and Danielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We are a family focused custom home builder. I, Caleb am a 5th generation home builder. My dad owned a drywall company and is now superintendent for a builder in Kansas City, MO. My grandfather built homes in Leavenworth.
My great grandfather brought our family to the area in the 1960s from California. Before that he lived in Chicago and Minnesota with his brothers building homes and doing drywall learning from his family.
We now run this new iteration of Snowbergs, building custom homes with myself, my wife Danielle and our kids, Cora and Colt.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I don’t think any small business, especially a brand new one, is ever easy. We try to plan as much as possible to stay within our means. We never wanted to be a big home builder. We like to be able to be more of a boutique/custom builder than a large track home builder. This way our schedule allows us to be more available and have a personal connection with our clients.
We have never built the same home twice. Everything we do is custom and completely able to be picked by the client. After all, it is their home and we want them to love it. We guide them along the way and provide various options to fit their style of home.
This approach is definitely different than most builders and presents its own struggles at times. That being said, it keeps it fun and new for us and ensures our clients get the exact the home they want in the end.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We are known for our 100% one off custom homes. Most clients come to us with various plan ideas and I combine them to into their custom home plan, just for them. We don’t make clients pick from 3-4 blueprints to choose the home they want. Every choice down to each doorknobs are completely up to them. Having a skilled designer on our team (Danielle) helps make the decision process easier for clients. She is able to help give suggestions or guidance where wanted but not be overly pushy. We don’t make clients choose from a few bland options or pay uncharges to change the finish color.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
I spent a lot of time with my grandparents because they were young parents when they had my dad. So my brother and I were kind of like their second set of kids.
As I said, he was a home builder as well. I always loved going to see the homes he had built and lived in or sold and still like to do that to this day.
I always said when we started our business I wanted our kids to be able to spend time on a job site and be proud to drive by our homes later in life with their kids and say “see, you’re grandma and grandpa built that.”
