Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Raynor.
Hi Katherine, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started hair school right out of high school not having much direction in life and just wanting to make art. Only Then did I found my love of hair and extensions. For my fist year of work I assisted under an extension artist and started my training. The detailed work and giving women there confidence back changed my whole perspective, it never was about hair or how you look it’s about how you feel and the light they exuded when they feel truly beautiful. Ever since then I have been hooked. I even went as far as applying to assist with a top education company and salon in Orange County California, I assisted there for 11 month then was asked to join there salon full time. It was hard to tell my parents I wasn’t coming back home after the year was up but they said “we aren’t surprised” after working for them for another 2 years I knew it was time to look for the next chapter. I wanted to get back to truly changing women’s lives along with the fact that I missed my family I knew it was time to come back to kc. After getting back on my feet I felt called to open my own space. A space that felt zen, homie and a space that shifted in to whatever my client needs during there appointment. It’s my happy place, I’m back to creating hair that makes women feel gorgeous and like the best versions of themselves, one that they might have lost along the way, someone that they want to come back to.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Opening my business has been the hardest thing I have ever done. Coming back from California and planting new roots is hard. I think just building a clientele in a new city is quite difficult. Although I lived In Kansas City already finding and reaching the right people can be difficult especially with something as niche as extensions and color. But I know what you put out comes back to you and I love all the girls that have put their trust in me.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in healthy extension completely customize for you. for all hair types but especially thin and fine hair.
No glue or tape. Making it the perfect method of extensions for women who are new to extensions or anyone who’s looking for a change.
My specialty is also seamless hair color. From blondes to lived-in or brunettes. My goal is for you to live your color from when you get it done until you come back in. Customizing it all the way to what your ideal up keep is
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
My happy place is anywhere with trees, coffee, and my cat.
