Community Highlights: Meet Jennifer Elpert of Elope in Kansas City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Elpert.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my wedding officiant career as an assistant to my mother, who was also an officiant. This is a family business that was started in 2014. I was active in the business for a couple of years but then pursued my studies to become a Registered Nurse. Now that I have my nursing career in a solid place, I decided to go back to doing the wedding ceremonies as well. I have been exclusively doing the courthouse weddings during the week (Monday-Wednesday) when I’m not working at the hospital. I’m a part time mobile wedding officiant, if you will! It’s been truly enjoyable and I love meeting my couples at the courthouse and being a part of their special day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are quite a few other wedding officiants and services for prospective couples to choose from depending on their situation, so the main challenge for me is finding a way to stay competitive with pricing and making my service appealing and easy for my clients to find.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Elope in Kansas City is my mobile wedding officiant business that is an affiliate of Your Magical Day (our family business). I specialize in convenience! I meet couples at the courthouse and perform a meaningful ceremony after filling out and signing their marriage paperwork. This service is unique because they can efficiently get married and instantly turn in their license with the Recorder of Deeds – a seamless process!

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I’m an outgoing and delightful wedding officiant and my bubbly personality helps put my couples at ease, even if they are nervous. I am very responsive to my couples and I think that has contributed to my success.

Pricing:

  • $200 – Clay County Couthouse
  • $200 – Jackson County Courthouse
