Today we’d like to introduce you to Bob Prisby.
Hi Bob, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am originally from the Chicagoland area. During high school and college summer breaks I worked as a laborer for a sewer and water company, saving money to pay for college. I was the first person in the family to graduate college; Purdue University. Shortly after college I worked for a demolition company based in Chicago but traveled all over the country performing demolition work. I did that for ~ 8 years then moved to Kansas City to get married and start a family. I started my KC journey running the field for an interior demolition company, that lasted about 1.5 years. I was then hired on at an asbestos abatement company to help estimate/project manage demolition work. That’s where I really learned how to bid work. After about 2 years I approached a KC general contractor regarding starting a demolition company and keeping the revenue “in-house” versus subbing the work out. We started Midtown Demolition in early 2018 and built that up, fast forward to August of 2021 and my now business partner (Jody Williams) and myself approached the owners of Midtown Demolition and we negotiated the sale of the company. In December of 2021 we rebranded/changed the name to Bulldog Demolition and we have been growing ever since!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been many obstacles along the way ranging from: finding work, finding good workers, securing a bank loan in order to purchase the company, just to name a few. Making sure we have our “pipeline full of work” is a constant challenge because we are responsible for the livelihoods of a lot of people. It seems like everyday we are presented with new and different challenges.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We were started in early 2018 under the name Midtown Demolition and legally changed the company name to Bulldog Demolition in December 2021. From January 2018 to October 2021 Midtown Demolition was a company that was under a larger companies corporate umbrella. In August 2021 my business partner and myself approached that corporations owners and negotiated the sale of the company. I had previously started and ran Midtown Demolition from its inception.
We performed any and all demolition and labor activities but our speciality is interior gut-outs. We are known for performing safe, clean, and quality work. When we say we will do something we always follow through on our word! We want to be the “easy” button for our clients.
The main thing that sets us apart from others in this industry is our field supervisors. These individuals go out of their way to bend over backwards and help the clients in any way possible, even if it means doing something that doesn’t necessarily benefit Bulldog but benefits the project as a whole. I can’t say enough positive things about our director of field operations Wayne Reid, he sets the tone with his actions and leads by example!
A few of the things I am most proud of are: First, since we started in 2018 we have never had to lay-off any full time laborers for lack of work, we want to grow at a safe rate and are careful regarding full time hires. Second, we offer all full time employees a benefit package that is above the industry norm. Third, in 2025 we were awarded the KCASA Small Subcontractor of the Year Award; which is voted on by our peers in the industry.
I want anybody reading this to know that when you hire Bulldog to do a job you are hiring a company that stresses: safety, experience, integrity and hard work. We want to be your “partners” on the project and work together in order to ensure a successful project for everybody involved and lastly we want to be your “EASY BUTTON”
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
One surprising thing is that most people wouldn’t know about Bulldog is that for the we have never had a full time admin person, Jody Williams (partner) and myself do the vast majority of admin functions in order to keep a beat on whats going on regarding cash flow within the company. Also, when we were in our first warehouse/office (3 months total) we shared the space with a CBD manufacture and distributor; very ambrosial atmosphere!
