Check Out Meghan Stevens’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghan Stevens.

Hi Meghan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I spent 14 years working in nursing, where I built a deep passion for caring for people during some of their most vulnerable moments. My career allowed me to focus on patient care, education, research, and emergency response: all centered around the goal of helping individuals recover, heal, and return to health. That experience shaped a strong foundation in service, compassion, and staying calm under pressure.

As our small, family-owned business began to grow rapidly, I recently made the decision to step away from healthcare and take a leap of faith into a completely different role in becoming the full-time owner and operator of our business. It was not an easy decision, but it felt like the right time to invest fully into something we were building together over the years and started to see coming to fruition.

Today, we operate 10 seasonal locations across the west-central Missouri region. A meaningful part of our work is collaborating with local nonprofits within these communities, which aligns closely with my background in service. I’ve always been drawn to people and organizations who are focused on helping others, and that continues to be a driving force in how we grow and operate today.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I always chuckle a bit at this question, because I spent much of my career in healthcare joking that I was a “black cloud”. It often felt like anything that could happen, would happen while I was on shift. Over the years, I’ve had directors and colleagues say things like, “I’ve never even heard of that happening before,” more times than I can count.

While those experiences were sometimes challenging in the moment, they really shaped my ability to stay calm under pressure and confidently handle unexpected situations. That mindset has carried over strongly into business ownership as well. That said, I can’t say the road has been easy in either field. Transitioning from healthcare into full-time business operations came with a steep learning curve, a leap of faith, and a few tears; and like any growing business, there are always good days and difficult days. Managing seasonal operations, logistics, and scaling across multiple locations has required constant adaptation. Even so, the challenges have been worth it. The work is rewarding, and I’ve found that my background has prepared me well for the unpredictable nature of both healthcare and entrepreneurship.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My professional background began in healthcare, where I spent 14 years working as a nurse. During that time, I focused on patient care, education, research, and emergency response. I’ve always been drawn to high-pressure environments where quick thinking, compassion, and accuracy matter most. Over the years, I became known for staying calm in unpredictable situations and stepping in whenever and wherever I was needed, whether that was direct patient care or helping teams navigate complex or urgent circumstances.

What I’m most proud of from my healthcare career is not just the clinical experience, but the ability to truly care for people during some of their most vulnerable moments while maintaining a strong sense of professionalism and composure.

Today, I serve as the owner and operator of Allstar Fireworks in Kingsville, Missouri – a growing family business that operates 10 seasonal retail locations across west-central Missouri. In this role, I oversee day-to-day operations, logistics, site coordination, and partnerships with landowners and local organizations. A major focus for us is working collaboratively with nonprofits in the communities we serve, which is something I value deeply given my background in service.

Allstar Fireworks stands out from many other retail fireworks operations because of our emphasis on organization, professionalism, and consistency across all locations. We take a structured, service-oriented approach to what is often a fast-paced and highly seasonal industry, ensuring our partners and customers have a reliable and well-supported experience from start to finish. Many of our retail tent operators utilize this opportunity as a fundraiser for their organization, and brings great success!

What sets me apart personally is that my foundation is rooted in healthcare – where attention to detail, accountability, empathy, and “calm under pressure” are essential – and I’ve carried those same principles in both my personal life and into business ownership. I approach operations with a service mindset first, and that perspective shapes how we treat our partners, our teams, and our communities.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is people: how they are treated, supported, and cared for in both everyday life and in high-stress situations. That has been the foundation of my career – both in healthcare and retail firework sales.

During my 14 years as a nurse, I learned that the most meaningful impact often comes from showing up for people in moments when they need it most. Whether it was patients, families, or coworkers, I saw firsthand how much difference compassion, patience, and clear communication can make. That value has carried directly into my work today as the owner and operator of Allstar Fireworks. Even though the setting is very different, the principle remains the same; I care deeply about building reliable relationships from landowners and team members, to nonprofit partners and the communities we serve. I want people to feel respected, supported, and confident in working with us.

At the end of the day, success for me is not just about growth or “title”, it’s about doing business in a way that is responsible, consistent, and rooted in service to others. That is what continues to drive me in everything I do, both personally and professionally.
