Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachelle Morlok.
Hi Rachelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I didn’t set out to start a nonprofit—I simply said yes to what God placed in front of me.
Fourteen years ago, I said yes and went to serve in a small, remote village of about 200 people in Senegal, West Africa. What started as short-term mission work quickly became something much deeper. I saw firsthand the needs of women and children—physically, emotionally, and spiritually—and I couldn’t look away. That’s where my heart shifted from occasional missions to long-term investment.
That season sparked a deep love for serving others. Shortly after, I met my now husband. After just five weeks of dating and a six-month engagement, we were married—and only a few months later, in September 2013, we traveled to Thailand. We fell in love with the people and culture and returned again in 2014 for a vision trip. That trip changed everything.
When we came back to the U.S., we made a decision: to say yes to God and no to the “American Dream.” We sold what we had, packed four bags, and in September 2015—while 13 weeks pregnant with our first child—we moved to Thailand full-time.
There, we helped run children’s homes and worked alongside local leaders to build and grow what God was already doing. What began as simple acts of care—showing up, building relationships, and meeting immediate needs—has grown into what is now Bloom International.
Today, Bloom International reaches both globally and locally. In Thailand, we run a children’s home, partner with village schools, host women’s and marriage conferences, lead mission trips, and provide medical and hygiene outreach clinics.
In Kansas City, our headquarters and distribution center in Raymore, Missouri serves as a hub for impact. We partner with 42 nonprofits and over 70 schools—and recently expanded through a statewide partnership with Holistic Defense Services. Since 2022, we’ve distributed 16,071 hygiene kits, and since 2024, 5,679 menstrual kits—each one representing dignity, care, and access for someone in need. We also host outreach events and create spaces where women and children feel seen, valued, and loved.
Along the way, God has stretched me in ways I never expected—leading teams, building partnerships, launching programs, and trusting Him through seasons of uncertainty. I’m also a mom to two incredible kids, Lanie and Kael, who have grown up in this mission and are now stepping into it in their own ways.
Today, we continue to grow Bloom with a vision to see every woman and child know their worth and dignity. We are building stronger partnerships, expanding our reach, and preparing for what’s next.
This journey hasn’t been perfect or easy—but it has been full of purpose. And it all started with one simple yes.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been a smooth road—and honestly, I wouldn’t say it was meant to be.
This journey has stretched me in ways I never expected. There have been seasons where I’ve been on my hands and knees, crying out to God, asking, “Why this?” and “Why now?” I’ve walked through broken promises, difficult relationships, and moments that felt deeply lonely. Those were not easy places to be.
But in those hard seasons, God has done some of His deepest work in me. He’s shown me that growth often comes through pressure—that I had to walk through those valleys to become the person who could carry what He was calling me into next. Each time, I’ve come out stronger, more grounded, and more dependent on Him.
I’ve learned that people will fail, circumstances will change, but the Lord is the only one I can fully place my trust in. And as hard as those lonely seasons have been, I’m genuinely grateful for them now.
I say that with a humbled heart, especially as I’m just coming out of one of those seasons. It has refined me, stretched me, and prepared me. I can see clearly that if I were still the person I was a year ago, I wouldn’t be able to handle what I’m stepping into today.
Because of these experiences, I’ve become a more well-rounded person—able to relate to others in deeper ways and walk alongside them in their own struggles. It has also opened the door for me to share my story more boldly through writing, becoming an author of powerful testimonies that point back to God’s faithfulness.
It hasn’t been easy—but it has been purposeful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Bloom International is not just a nonprofit—it’s a network of people committed to working within the culture in front of us, not over it.
Everything we do begins by listening. We ask the women and children we serve what they actually need, and from those conversations, our programs are built. That approach has led to our five core areas: hygiene and self-care, menstrual care, conferences, mentorship, and our children’s home.
What makes Bloom unique is that these programs don’t look the same everywhere. We intentionally adapt each one to fit the culture, community, and people we are serving—whether that’s in villages in Thailand or neighborhoods in Kansas City. We’re not coming in to “save the day.” We come alongside individuals, equipping and empowering them to discover their purpose and become the best version of themselves.
We are known for creating spaces where women and children feel seen, valued, and restored in dignity—often through simple, tangible care that opens the door to deeper transformation.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is that Bloom has remained rooted in both compassion and authenticity. We haven’t chased growth for the sake of numbers—we’ve focused on meaningful impact, strong relationships, and long-term sustainability. The trust we’ve built within communities, both locally and globally, is something we don’t take lightly.
At the end of the day, we want people to know that Bloom is about dignity, purpose, and partnership. Whether someone is receiving a hygiene kit, attending a conference, or growing through mentorship, our heart is the same: that every woman and child would know their worth and walk confidently in it.
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are so many meaningful ways people can come alongside Bloom International and be part of what we’re doing—both locally and globally.
First, we always say: come be the hands and feet. You can serve directly by volunteering your time and skills at our headquarters in Raymore, Missouri. Whether it’s helping assemble hygiene kits, organizing outreach efforts, or using your unique gifts, there’s a place for everyone to get involved.
For businesses, partnering as a corporate sponsor is a powerful way to make a lasting impact while aligning your brand with purpose-driven work that restores dignity and creates change.
Individuals can support by becoming a “Bloom Angel,” one of our monthly donors who help sustain and grow our programs year-round. Consistent giving allows us to plan, expand, and respond to needs as they arise.
For churches, there are several ways to partner with us—by adopting Bloom as your nonprofit partner, supporting me as a missionary, taking up special offerings for specific projects, or inviting me to come and speak and share what God is doing both locally and globally.
Another meaningful way to get involved is by sponsoring a child from our children’s home—building a personal connection while directly investing in a child’s future.
You can also support through everyday choices, like drinking our fair trade coffee, which helps fuel our mission while supporting ethical sourcing.
And for those who want to go deeper, we offer opportunities to join us on mission trips overseas—stepping into the work firsthand, building relationships, and experiencing the impact up close.
At every level—whether you give, go, serve, or partner—you are helping create a world where women and children know their worth and dignity.
