Inspiring Conversations with Alea Kelley of Guided Choice Insurance

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alea Kelley.

Hi Alea, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began my career in sales in 2021, educating seniors about what retirement would look like from a healthcare perspective. I quickly realized that many people felt overwhelmed trying to understand Medicare and the options available to them. What started as a job became a calling. I developed a true passion for helping seniors navigate complex decisions with clarity and confidence.

That passion led me to build Guided Choice Insurance; an agency focused on serving Medicare beneficiaries and helping families protect what they’ve worked so hard to build. I specialize in Medicare planning and life insurance solutions that protect assets and cover final expenses, giving families peace of mind during life’s most vulnerable moments.

In 2024, I made one of the hardest decisions of my life. As a single mother with very little support, I stepped away from my 9–5 and fully bet on myself. Shortly after, I relocated from Dallas to Raytown, Missouri, starting over in a brand-new state while building my business from the ground up. Entrepreneurship alone comes with challenges, rebuilding in a new community pushed me even further.

There were moments that tested me, but quitting was never an option. I didn’t wait for the perfect conditions; I created momentum in imperfect ones. Each obstacle strengthened my resilience, discipline, and faith. I believe greatness takes time, and the foundation I’m building now is rooted in service, integrity, and persistence.

Today, I am licensed in both Missouri and Kansas, proudly serving families across both states. As we move into 2026, my mission remains the same: every client I work with can trust that their best interest comes first. This isn’t just business for me, it’s personal. I am committed to being a trusted advisor, advocate, and long-term resource for the families I serve.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was making the decision to leave the security of my 9–5 as a single mother with very little support. Entrepreneurship doesn’t come with guarantees, and stepping into the unknown required an immense amount of faith, discipline, and self-belief.

Shortly after taking that leap, I relocated from Dallas to Raytown, Missouri, starting over in a completely new state while rebuilding my client base from the ground up. At the same time, I was navigating new motherhood again, caring for my now 7-month-old baby while growing my business. Balancing sleepless nights, client meetings, licensing requirements, and building in a new community stretched me in ways I never imagined.

There were moments of exhaustion and uncertainty. Moments where the weight of responsibility felt heavy. But quitting was never an option. My children are my why. They remind me daily why I took the risk in the first place.

I’ve learned that obstacles aren’t roadblocks, they’re refinement. I didn’t wait for ideal conditions; I built momentum anyway. Every challenge strengthened my resilience, sharpened my leadership, and deepened my faith. What felt overwhelming at times ultimately built the woman and business owner I am becoming.

As you know, we’re big fans of Guided Choice Insurance. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Guided Choice Insurance was built on one simple belief: people deserve clarity, not confusion, when it comes to protecting their health and their families.

We specialize in Medicare planning and life insurance solutions, serving seniors and families across Missouri and Kansas. Medicare can feel overwhelming, with multiple parts, plan options, deadlines, and constant changes. I focus on educating my clients first, making sure they truly understand their options so they can make confident, informed decisions about their coverage.

In addition to Medicare, I help families put protection in place through life insurance, whether that’s safeguarding assets, creating financial stability, or ensuring final expenses don’t become a burden for loved ones. My role is not just to sell a policy, but to create a long-term strategy that aligns with each family’s needs and goals.

What sets me apart is the level of personalization and integrity I bring to every conversation. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. I take time to listen, understand, and guide. My clients aren’t transactions, they’re relationships. Many of the people I serve are navigating major life transitions, and I pride myself on being a steady, trustworthy resource they can rely on year after year.

Brand-wise, I am most proud of the reputation I’m building around honesty, accessibility, and service. I want people to know that when they work with Guided Choice Insurance, their best interest truly comes first. I operate with transparency, faith, and a deep sense of responsibility to the families who trust me.

At the end of the day, my brand represents guidance, protection, and peace of mind. I’m not just building policies, I’m building security for generations.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
One of the things I appreciate most about living here is the abundance of resources available to support both families and small business owners. There are so many organizations truly invested in the success and well-being of people in Missouri. I’m currently taking business classes through the local SBDC and have access to a free business coach, and that kind of support is invaluable as an entrepreneur. Having those tools available makes a huge difference, especially when you’re building something from the ground up.

I also genuinely appreciate the people here. There’s a kindness and warmth that feels very real, maybe it’s that Midwestern hospitality. As someone focused on serving seniors and families, being in a community where relationships matter aligns perfectly with my values.

If I had to choose something I like least, I’d say the snow. Although I’m originally from Minnesota, so I guess I don’t have much room to complain! I’m still adjusting, but I’m looking forward to continuing to explore more of the community and getting even more involved locally.
