Daily Inspiration: Meet Kristian Corliss

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristian Corliss.

Hi Kristian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I think my journey started when I took a photography class in high school, ever since then I’ve had such an admiration for the art. Then in 2022 I met an amazing photographer who became my best friend and eventually my mentor. In 2024 my wonderful husband gifted me my very first camera and I started taking pictures of whatever I could, my children, friends, shadowing countless weddings and even taking pictures at drag races! So many late nights reading and learning about my camera and photography, growing my passion and appreciation with each passing day. Learning that I love freezing moments in time that can be preserved for years to come, hearing people’s love stories and capturing genuine emotion.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
This journey definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road. Building a photography business while raising a family has stretched me in the best and hardest ways. Learning to balance client work, editing late nights, and being fully present at home took time and intention. There have also been moments of doubt, questioning if I am good enough, I think everyone experiences that at some point in their lives and I am no different. But those moments didn’t stop me, they pushed me to refine my craft, build confidence, and trust the unique perspective I bring behind the camera. Every challenge has shaped me, strengthening me not just as a business owner, but as a person. Today, I feel incredibly grateful for the balance we’ve created and for the business I’ve worked so hard to build.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a photographer who loves taking pictures of everything but I specialize in weddings, in capturing genuine, emotional moments in a way that feels natural. My work focuses on real connection, the quiet hand squeezes, the nervous laughter before walking down the aisle, the joyful chaos of the dance floor. I’m drawn to the in-between moments just as much as the big ones.

I’m known for making people feel truly comfortable in front of the camera. Many of my clients tell me they were nervous at first, but quickly felt at ease. I bring a calm, steady presence to the day, which allows moments to unfold naturally instead of feeling forced or overly posed.

What I’m most proud of is creating not just beautiful images, but an experience where my clients feel supported and fully present. I believe that when people feel comfortable and confident, that’s when the most meaningful photographs happen.

What sets me apart is the balance I bring, artistry paired with intention. As a wife and mom, I deeply understand the value of preserving memories. I don’t just show up to take photos I show up invested. Every gallery is thoughtfully curated to reflect not just how the day looked, but how it felt.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is my family of course but also people and connection. At the core of my business isn’t just creating beautiful images, it’s building trust and making sure the people in front of my camera feel seen, valued, and comfortable. Photography is personal. When someone chooses me to document their life, their milestones, or even the ordinary moments in between, that trust means everything to me.
As a wife and mom, I understand how quickly time moves and how meaningful it is to preserve the moments that can’t be recreated. That perspective shapes the way I approach every session. It’s not just about getting the perfect shot. It’s about capturing feeling, personality, and connection in a way that will matter years from now.
Building this business has never been just about growth or success. It’s about creating something meaningful, work that reflects heart, relationships that last, and a life that allows me to be present both for my clients and my family.
