Conversations with Timmy Gibson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Timmy Gibson.

Timmy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I officiated my very first wedding in 1999, making this my 27th year as a Wedding Officiant. I grew up in the Kansas City area, attending Shawnee Mission West High School. Immediately following graduation from high school I went on to attend Seminary. I earned my degree and spent the next 30 years honing my public speaking skills as a Christian Pastor. Though I am no longer religious, I do believe strongly in the sanctity of marriage. I love being an Officiant (aka Wedding Celebrant) and helping couples create a memorable and magical wedding ceremony, from planning to execution.

I am married to Jessica Gray, a local musician. I have two beautiful children, one grandchild and a cat. I enjoy long walks with my wife, playing competitive tennis, curling up on the couch with a novel, traveling to new places, riding my motorcycle, having deep conversations, puffing on my 100 year old Pipe, sipping on a delicious craft cocktail, chilling with friends, and changing my facial hair regularly. Oh, and I do love Tattoos.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life is never smooth. But over-all I don’t have any complaints, though I should mention that covid was a very difficult time in the Wedding Industry.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Wedding Officiant. I specialize in customized Wedding Ceremonies for couples in or near Kansas City. What I am known for? Hmmmm … Honestly I am known as the tattooed Wedding Officiant. But also I work as a Relationship Coach, Matchmaker, and Date Coach. I do host singles events (i.e. Speed Dating, Mixer, Mix & Mingles) in and around Kansa City. I am most proud of having build a Wedding Officiant Team of 12 people. No matter what you are looking for we have it, even have a Spanish Speaking Officiant. We just love people, love love and want to provide the most heartfelt customized Wedding Ceremony in Kansas City for couples in love. I think what sets me (and our team) apart is simply or vibe. We respect people’s beliefs, whether religious or not, we want to help provide a professional service in helping people tie the knot.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’m not sure you can live a full life without taking risks. If you want to do something great, you must take risks. I am risk-averse honestly, but I do take calculated risks. I really try and weigh my options before pulling the trigger. This is subjective too. What is a risk to one person isn’t a risk at all to another.
