Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsay Gustafson.
Hi Lindsay, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My career quickly turned into passion and growth. I began as a labor and delivery nurse and worked at the bedside for 12 years. I loved my role supporting, empowering, and educating families as they welcomed their babies earthside. It is such a unique honor to stand in the gap, hold space, and offer uplifting encouragement during such an exciting and also vulnerable time for families. I became a board certified lactation consultant in 2019 so I could offer even more support and education to families and also to be able to continue to support moms and babies in a different way, extending further into the postpartum period. I then worked full time as an IBCLC in the hospital before opening my own full time private practice Nourish & Flourish in January 2021. I support moms, babies, and families from all over the KC metro with breastfeeding, bottle feeding, pumping, prenatal education, newborn care, and CFT (craniosacral fascial therapy). I also recently published my first book “Designed to Thrive” written to be an extension of my teaching, as well as to offer supportive and uplifting encouragement for moms.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My journey in curating Nourish & Flourish has been filled with many experiences, encouragement and collaboration with my colleagues, continuing education opportunities, support from my husband, Joel, and deep faith, believing that I am living out my calling. It has helped me to curate my practice into something that is now well established and thriving. I pour my heart and soul into the families that I serve and it continues to give me joy and life day after day.
We’ve been impressed with Nourish & Flourish, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I truly believe I am living out the calling on my life by creating Nourish & Flourish. I am fully committed and am passionate about educating and encouraging moms to trust their intuition while understanding the biological design and norms. There is so much societal pressure and information overload that moms are exposed to daily and it causes them to question and doubt their own intuition. Moms sometimes feel stress, overwhelm, and out of hope if feeding isn’t going well. Feeding difficulties can compound stress levels and make it difficult to relax and enjoy their new baby. I strive to build moms up while teaching them and supporting them in a gentle and compassionate way. My goal is to make it possible for moms to truly enjoy their babies and motherhood while helping to solve feeding difficulties and take the pressure off of them. I have a unique skillset and holistic approach to get to the root cause of the challenges and solve them.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t tend to use the word luck in my life or business. I believe favor has come my way and to my business due to my passion, commitment, surrender, gratitude, and faith. I listened to the call on my life and I continue to align my heart with serving others and heeding the call. I find true joy in how I live and how I run my business.
