Exploring Life & Business with Elizabeth Wright of Elizabeth Wright Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Wright.

Hi Elizabeth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started my journey with a deep desire to help children and families feel supported, understood and empowered. Early in my career, I started working with children and families in the foster care system. I was drawn to working with kids who struggled with big emotions, anxiety, and confidence. I quickly realized how much impact early intervention can have on a child’s life.

Over the years, I’ve grown both professionally and personally. I worked in the school system for the past 7 years meeting children where they are at. This only further deepened my desire to help children. My experience working with kids in school has shaped my therapy approach to focus on emotional regulation, self-esteem, and practical coping skills for real life. Becoming a Mother this year further deepened my empathy and strengthened my commitment to supporting families in a realistic and compassionate way.

I launched my practice, Elizabeth Wright Counseling, in July of 2024 with the goal to take my business full-time one day. I recently did that as of February 2026!

Today, I combine clinical experience with real-life perspective. I’m passionate about creating safe spaces where children can build confidence, learn emotional skills, and feel truly seen, while helping parents feel equipped and encouraged along the way.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been an entirely smooth road, and I actually think the challenges have been some of my greatest teachers. Early in my career I had to learn how to balance expectations, both from myself and from the work, with sustainability. Like many helping professionals, I have experienced seasons of burnout, self-doubt, and questioning whether I was doing “enough”. Working with children and families is deeply meaningful and carries a lot of responsibility and there were times I felt the emotional weight of that.

There were also pivotal life transitions that reshaped how I viewed success and balance. I had to learn to set boundaries, prioritize what truly mattered, and redefine growth on my own terms. Those seasons stretched me, but they ultimately strengthened my resilience and deepened my empathy.

Looking back, the challenges I faced allowed me to refine my approach, clarify my values, and helped me build a career that feels aligned, purposeful, and sustainable.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Elizabeth Wright Counseling?
My work centers around supporting children and families in building emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience. I primarily specialize in working with children who struggle with anxiety, big emotions, and self-esteem challenges. I’m especially passionate about helping young people express themselves, build confidence, and develop the tools they need to thrive.

What sets my practice apart is the balance between expertise and relatability. I focus heavily on equipping parents alongside their children because real change happens when the whole system feels supported. My approach is structured but warm, skills-based but playful. I want to leave kids feeling capable and parents to leave feeling confident.

I’m passionate about creating nurturing, developmentally appropriate spaces where children, teens, and young adults can explore their experiences and emotions at their own pace. I integrate hands-on activities, emotional education, and concrete strategies that families can use at home and at school.

What I am most proud of is the impact. Seeing a child who once felt anxious or out of control begin to use their words, advocate for themselves, and believe in the innate ability to handle hard things.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something most people who know my work might not recognize is how much my personal growth has shaped my professional approach. I’m constantly working on my own emotional regulation, boundaries, and balance, the same skills I teach my clients. I don’t believe in asking someone to do the work I am not willing to do myself.
