Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacqueline Faltermeier.

Hi Jacqueline, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My husband, Adi, and I both are born and raised in the Kansas City Metro Area. I went to SMS and he went to Olathe South. Upon meeting, we wanted to start something bigger than us that people from around the world could enjoy. With both of us being big foodies and loving to explore cuisines from around the world, food was the obvious choice. My husband had asked what is better than ice cream? So our journey to opening Ice Cream BAE (Before Anything Else) began. We started inside a marketplace on the Plaza and decided on Leawood when it was time for a storefront in 2020. We risked everything to open during unprecedented times and grew until we opened our Plaza location a few years ago.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been so fun trying new foods, combos, and growing our business. Our biggest challenge was opening our storefront in 2020. Getting our brick and mortar open while the world was shut down – it was such an unpredictable time. We’re so glad it worked out and that we’ve been able to build from the ground up. We wouldn’t change it for anything!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We specialize in big ice cream swirls – use your imagination and we can create it! We’re so proud of the creativity we’ve been able to deliver with our flavor combos and toppings – from mixing in famous cereals, to creating classic combos, to collabing with local businesses in creating a unique special! We love to experiment and, whenever presented the opportunity, we love to incorporate our Asian culture into a flavor.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Food always makes us happy! Coming together to share a meal is a big part of our family and my husband’s culture. Always coming together and seeing each other after a long day to share a meal or laugh about our day is always a great stress relief. Not only does the meal itself bring us comfort, but also the act of having the meal.

Pricing:

  • Swirls are around $6-$9 dollars. Depends on what you mix in, how much you mix in, or how much you want to top it! Our swirls are usually equal to about 3 medium scoops of ice cream
  • We have soft serve and ice cream specials ranging from $7-$12. If you can’t decide on what you want, we have these prefixed items that are for sure great combos!
  • If you want no toppings, you can get a large swirl of our signature flavors that range from $5-$7
