Hi Savannah, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After graduating high school, I was uncertain about the career path I wanted to pursue. With several friends enrolled in cosmetology school, I decided to explore the field and quickly developed a strong passion for the artistry and creativity of hair design. I graduated from Z Hair Academy in Lee’s Summit in January 2020 and began my career at Studio 39 Salon in Lakewood. Unfortunately, that opportunity was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
After taking time to regroup, I was fortunate to find the right fit at The Beauty Room in Harrisonville, Missouri, where I began working in July 2021. This salon has truly become my professional home. I am grateful to be part of such a supportive environment and take great pride in my work. Cosmetology is not only my profession but a career I am deeply passionate about.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While my journey has not always been easy, I have been incredibly fortunate to grow a strong and loyal clientele. This industry is ever-changing, with many people coming and going, yet it is also filled with meaningful, lasting relationships. Through rebooking and the trust shared through word-of-mouth referrals, my clientele has grown beyond what I could have imagined. I am deeply grateful for each and every client who chooses to support me and allows me to do what I love. Their loyalty, trust, and continued support mean everything to me.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Beauty Room. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in blonding, lived-in color, and hand-tied weft extensions. I am best known for extensions and for creating customized looks that not only enhance my clients’ natural beauty, but also complement their lifestyle.
What truly sets me apart is the time and care I dedicate to understanding each client’s vision. I believe thoughtful consultation is key, and there is no such thing as asking too many questions when it comes to achieving the perfect result. I value open communication and actively seek feedback, always striving to elevate both my work and my clients’ experience in the salon. I am committed to staying current with the latest trends, techniques, and products, and I continuously invest in my education to provide the highest level of service.
I am incredibly proud of the business I have built. As a small-town girl, I never imagined creating something so fulfilling and successful. This journey has taught me that persistence and passion can carry you through setbacks, slow seasons, and moments of doubt. By continuing to push forward, growth and success inevitably follow. This career is so much more than a job to me—it’s a feeling I can’t quite put into words. From helping a client rediscover their confidence and watching their face light up, to building meaningful relationships and supporting each client as they chase their dreams alongside mine, it is truly the most rewarding experience.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
What initially felt like the misfortune of COVID ultimately led me to something truly special. That unexpected pause in my career guided me to the salon I now call home and introduced me to an incredible team of people who have supported and inspired me. Had it not been for that moment in time, I can only imagine how different my journey—and my business—might look today. In many ways, what once felt like bad luck became one of the greatest blessings of my career.
