Hi Julie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve loved photography for as long as I can remember. What started as a personal passion became a business where I focused on headshots and real estate photography. I enjoyed serving clients and building my skills, but I kept feeling pulled toward something more people-centered, something that created joy in the moment.
When COVID hit, everything slowed down and it gave me space to reflect on what I truly wanted to build. Around that time, we attended a few events that had photo booths, and something clicked. I watched guests step in front of the camera and instantly relax…no pressure, no stiff posing…just laughter, connection, and memories happening in real time.
That’s when I knew this was the direction I wanted to follow. Photo booths don’t just take pictures they capture a feeling. And I loved that people walked away with something tangible that reminded them of how much fun they had.
Today, Eventfully Yours KC is all about creating an experience that brings people together through custom touches, a fun setup, and photos guests can enjoy and share right away.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a really exciting journey. Eventfully Yours KC is in its second year, but it definitely hasn’t been perfectly smooth. Like most new businesses, we’ve had to learn a lot quickly: building brand awareness, creating consistent systems, navigating slower seasons, and figuring out how to grow without losing the personal touch that matters so much to us.
There’s also a lot that happens behind the scenes: prep, setup logistics, communication, and making sure every event runs smoothly and feels effortless for the client.
I’m grateful for the support of our family and friends, and I’m especially grateful for our clients who have trusted us with their celebrations. Each challenge has helped us refine what we offer and become even more intentional about the experience we deliver.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the heart of what we do is creating fun, meaningful moments through a photo booth experience, bringing energy, connection, and creativity to weddings, corporate events, reunions, school events, and everything in between.
We’re known for more than just taking photos, we’re known for creating an experience. From custom photo templates and backdrops to friendly, hands-on service, we want every guest to feel comfortable, included, and excited to step in front of the camera. Guests can get their images quickly and easily (and we offer options like digital sharing, GIFs, and even prints depending on the package).
What I’m most proud of is the joy we get to bring to people. Watching guests laugh, be silly, and walk away with a keepsake from the event never gets old, and it’s incredibly meaningful to know we’re part of their memories.
What truly sets us apart is the personal touch. We care deeply about our clients, their vision, and their guests. We treat every event like it’s our own and that care shows in the experience.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that people don’t just remember events, they remember how an event felt. My favorite moments are the ones where someone steps up to the booth saying, “I’m not photogenic,” and a few seconds later they’re laughing with their friends and walking away with a photo they genuinely love.
