Today we’d like to introduce you to Ammon Waters.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I was born and raised in Cape Coral, Florida and moved to the KCMO area about 6 years ago and love it. My life partner is from Las Vegas and moved with me.
My life partner and I grew tired of seeing Healthcare Sharing Ministries only willing to cover those who attest to Christianity. We believe this is not right as in that we believe that Christ helped all, broke bread with all and was inclusive. We have seen and heard so many stories of people fighting to get good healthcare and many are losing their Marketplace health care coverages simply because they cannot afford the new premium increases. We want to make sure the public regardless of their belief, religion, faith or walk will receive the same kind of coverage in times of turmoil and need. We wanted to make it more affordable than most other HealthCare Sharing Ministries as well and we did! We believe in helping as many people as possible and Kansas City is one of the cities in the nation hit the hardest by those being thrust out of healthcare coverage due to the ACA subsidies having already expired. We want to be a part of the solution. We are striving to add many mental health components and forward thinking modalities within our care unlike many other HealthCare Sharing Ministries who may be unwilling due to more rigid requirements we absolutely do not require of our members. Help us help the people. We will be sharing resources for our members to get free or highly discounted basic foods as well. We’re excited to stand out and get started helping those in dire need. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, there has been resistance from some partners because of the Christianity element that only applies to the board. We’ve both struggled to bring this about as both myself and my life partner Traci Waters are neurodivergent yet we keep moving forward. We truly understand how others may feel. It’s working out now though. Many of the organizations are working with us anyway after some time of building relationships of trust.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory was fishing off the Gulf of Mexico, shrimping and hunting for oyster on Sanibel Island close to my home in Cape Coral growing up.
