Community Highlights: Meet Floredith Rodriguez of Unique Cleaning Services LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Floredith Rodriguez.

Hi Floredith, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I arrived in this country four years ago carrying nothing but fear, hope, and the responsibility of being a mother. I am Venezuelan, a Certified Public Accountant with a master’s degree in business, but I was forced to leave my country because of the devastating economic and political crisis.

I fought for the freedom of my country until the situation became unbearable. Insecurity took over, and our lives were no longer safe. Leaving was not a choice—it was a matter of survival.

When I arrived here, I started from absolute zero. I did not know the language, and my professional career was left behind. Still, I held on to hope and began studying English, believing that one day I would be able to work in my profession again. In the meantime, I learned how to clean houses. It was not my dream, but it became my lifeline. I took on clients so I could put food on the table, care for my daughter, and continue supporting my family back in Venezuela. There was a time when I worked up to three jobs just to survive.

Two years later, with my heart full of fear but also determination, I made the hardest decision of my life. As a single mother, solely responsible for my home, I chose to believe in myself and opened Unique Cleaning Services LLC in June 2023. That summer, my daughter and I walked through neighborhood after neighborhood under the sun, handing out flyers, praying for an opportunity. Those walks planted the seeds of my first clients—and of my dream.

My daughter has always been my greatest motivation and my greatest strength. I remember clearly the moment I doubted myself and considered finding a part-time job because I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to pay the rent. She looked at me and said, “Mom, if you do that, you’re not trusting your business. You’re always positive. You are going to succeed.” Her words gave me the courage I needed to keep going.

Today, my business is not just a company—it is our survival, our stability, and our testimony of resilience. It has supported me and continues to help my family in Venezuela. Today my daughter is 15 years old, and in her free time, she proudly works alongside me. She has grown up watching her mother fight, build, and never give up.

This journey has not been easy, but it has been worth it. My story is one of sacrifice, courage, and unwavering faith—proof that even when you start from nothing, love and determination can build everything.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges of owning a business is constantly finding new clients, and the pressure was intense because I was not only supporting my daughter, but also my mother, my grandmother, and my niece.

In 2022, my sister passed away from breast cancer at just 31 years old. The lack of access to proper treatment in Venezuela made her battle incredibly painful. She was a single mother, and after her passing, the responsibility of caring for her daughter fell entirely on me.

Balancing grief, financial responsibility, and the demands of building a business has been overwhelming, but giving up was never an option. My family depends on me, and that responsibility became my strength.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Unique Cleaning Services LLC?
At its core, my business is a cleaning company—but in practice, it is something much deeper. I specialize in residential cleaning, but what truly sets my service apart is the heart behind it. Anyone can clean a space; what not everyone can do is care for the people who live in it.

Many of my clients are navigating depression, emotional exhaustion, or periods of overwhelming clutter. In those moments, my work goes beyond organization and cleanliness. I listen. I understand. I sit with them in their vulnerability. Sometimes, I even cry with them. My role becomes one of emotional support and encouragement, helping them move forward until their home once again feels like a place of peace, clarity, and safety.

This deeply personal and compassionate approach is what defines my brand. I bring warmth, empathy, and respect into every home, while maintaining the highest standards of quality and professionalism. Over time, my clients stop feeling like clients—they become family.

What I am most proud of, brand-wise, is creating a service rooted in humanity. My work is not just about transforming spaces; it is about restoring dignity, hope, and emotional well-being. I want readers to know that my brand stands for trust, compassion, and genuine connection—because sometimes, a clean home is the first step toward healing.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I have not built this business alone. Several people played a crucial role, especially during the most difficult stages.

When I first arrived, I worked with a cleaning company owned by a fellow Venezuelan, Marzolayde Chacón, who inspired me to see that the cleaning industry could be both dignified and profitable. My teacher, a Mexican woman named Lupe, patiently taught me how to clean professionally and gave me the confidence to improve every day.

My greatest support has always been my daughter. When I didn’t speak English, she helped me understand clients, assisted with marketing, and gave me the emotional strength to never give up. Today, my partner Joshuel helps structure the company, manage marketing, and standardize pricing, turning my hard work into a sustainable business.

Each of these people believed in me when I was still finding my way, and their guidance and support are woven into the foundation of my business.
