Hi Makenzi, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been in the events industry for 12 years, starting young as a bridal hair and makeup artist. During a stint doing event rentals, I discovered my true passion for planning and design. From there, my love for creating memorable experiences just grew. Along the way, I’ve been fortunate to gain invaluable experiences and meet incredibly talented people who have guided me to where I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Every journey has its twists and turns, and mine has been full of life lessons that helped me grow. I’ve learned to embrace change, adapt to unique trends, and keep the work exciting. Our industry evolves constantly, and navigating those shifts has made the job even more rewarding.

At Scratch Gourmet Catering, we’re a full-service custom catering and events team — or as I like to call it — creating a one-of-a-kind experience from start to finish. I lead the catering sales & event execution team, overseeing every event alongside a killer team. We’re proud of the strong relationships we’ve built with vendors—they’re the key that brings every event together. No idea is too bold or ambitious; we thrive on creativity and innovation.
What sets me apart? Probably my versatility. I mean, I can dive into the kitchen, handle admin details, or roll up my sleeves on the floor. Years in this industry have honed my instincts for creative problem-solving. Plus, I always come prepared with a toolkit for any challenge that comes up.
What matters most to you?
It’s my circle of support. From our team and vendors to my husband Colby, family, and friends, these people make everything possible. Every event I’ve worked on and the growth I’ve achieved over the past decade, they’re a reflection of the incredible support around me.
