Conversations with Cory Jackson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cory Jackson.

Hi Cory, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Bridging the gap between today’s modern country and the timeless sounds of the genre’s golden era, Cory Jackson is an independent singer, songwriter, and entertainer whose performances combine faith, heart, and true country storytelling.

Born in Jonesboro, Arkansas, in 1995, Cory’s rural upbringing continues to shape both his sound and his spirit. Introduced to the guitar by his grandfather at 16, he began by learning classic cover songs before discovering his own gift for songwriting. Fueled by big-stage dreams on small-town bus rides, Cory quickly gained local recognition for his talent and authenticity.

He released his first EP in 2015, followed by a series of singles across all streaming platforms—many featuring his own songwriting. Over the years and thousands of performances later, Cory has honed his ability to connect with audiences of all ages. His set lists blend the classics of George Strait, Alan Jackson, and Glen Campbell with modern country favorites and original songs that reflect his faith, family values, and genuine country soul.

Cory’s career highlights include:
Top 5 placement in Snag-a-Job’s 2015 national online competition for the opportunity to open for Brett Eldredge
Back-to-back independent artist wins (2016 & 2017) and collaboration with Nashville’s WSM-650AM
Opening performances for The Oak Ridge Boys, Tracy Lawrence, Parmalee, and Rosanne Cash
2018 Arkansas CMA “Country Artist of the Year”
National debut on NBC’s The Voice (Season 17), earning a three-chair turn and joining Team Blake Shelton
2022 Arkansas CMA “Video of the Year” for “Put Some Country in Your Country”
Top 5 Song of the Year Nominee (2023) for “Your Love”
2024 Arkansas CMA “Male Vocalist of the Year”, performing his original “When the Needle Drops”

Cory’s most recent singles, “Toolbox” and “Right in Front of Me,” continue his mission to bridge traditional and modern country with heartfelt lyrics and relatable stories. Whether performing a laid-back acoustic set or a high-energy full-band show, Cory brings an authentic connection that leaves every audience feeling part of the music.

Beyond the stage, Cory remains deeply engaged with his growing community through Cory’s Country Club, his social platforms, and his podcast “Coffee with Cory,” where he blends faith, music, and life lessons.

Cory Jackson is faith-driven, country-rooted, and people-connected—a true reflection of what country music is meant to be.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a journey. From very high highs to very low lows. However, I’m grateful for each part of it. Each part has taught me something that I’ve needed to in my future. The latest thing I experienced was vocal issues. I had Muscle Tension Dysphonia. I took a year off from playing music to go through vocal therapy and work vocally with my vocal coaching. It is truly a journey as I continue to grow now and get back out to start playing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve worked as a country music artist for just over 10 years now. I’ve also worked as a worship leader in Arkansas and as well as in Kansas. I’m most known for my appearance on NBC’s The Voice on Season 17. I was on Team Blake.
