Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa And Clint Fountain.
Hi Lisa and Clint, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Clint and I have been together since 2000. We got married in 2002 and had our beautiful daughter in 2004.
For the past 25 years, we’ve talked about owning our own businesses. Clint has had a huge passion for being an entrepreneur since he was young and has had so many great business ideas that he’s shared with me, which has rubbed off, and made me have a passion to be an entrepreneur as well. But both of us worked corporate jobs for years, 28 yrs (him) and 20 yrs (me). So finding the time to be full-time businesses owners had been difficult.
We didn’t let working full-time jobs stop us though-
For some time now, Clint has had his own side business called Sweet Software LLC (www.sweet.software), where he helps local business owners with web development, reputation management, and software automation.
I left my full-time job in the summer 2024 and we started our first business together called LiftUp Local LLC. (www.liftuplocal.co).
The company’s mission is to advertise local businesses and charities around the Kansas City area by connecting them to thousands of local homeowners through highly effective direct mail marketing campaigns.
This summer Clint began working on another business idea, a passion project really, called Etched Life (etchedlife.com). Etched Life creates memorials to honor loved ones, people and pets, by permanently engraving photographs on ceramic tiles and other materials. This has given him a creative outlet which he finds fun and fulfilling.
This year I started my own business called Repeat Chic Boutique LLC (www.repeatchic.com). Repeat Chic buys and sells previously owned party apparel, such as formal gowns and cocktail dresses, as well as costumes for various events. You can shop at Repeat Chic Boutique (Shop# E15) inside the Painted Tree Boutiques at Barrywoods Crossing Shopping Center in the KC Northland.
While our startup projects are exciting, we wanted to find an existing business that already had marketplace momentum and good revenue, that would allow us to transition out of our corporate careers into something much more fun and rewarding.
In December 2024, we started looking seriously at available businesses for sale. We didn’t know it then, but we quickly learned how long and emotionally taxing that process can be. We looked at so many businesses, but most did not meet the financial or time requirements we required.
Eventually, we found a business that fits exactly what we were looking for. In October 2025, Clint left his corporate job and together we purchased Slush Your Mouth, a company that rents margarita and frozen drink machines.
The previous owner did an amazing job at building Slush Your Mouth into Kansas City’s premier slushy machine rental business. It was all tied up in a beautiful package when we bought the business, and she has been a great mentor to us since day one. We appreciate her expertise and guidance very much.
Slush Your Mouth Inc. provides a complete slushy machine service. You decide what flavors you want and we take care of the rest. We deliver the machines to your location, mix the drinks, and teach you how to use the machines.
After your event we take care of the cleanup, picking up the machines and thoroughly sanitizing them. For those adult drinks, you simply buy the alcohol in advance, and we will mix it for you when we drop off the machine. Don’t worry, we can tell you exactly how much to buy to make the perfect drinks!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think our struggle along the way has been the long search that it’s taken, since December of 2024, to find the right business to buy. Though an exhausting process, we’ve learned a lot. We have a great team that includes a business advisor and financial advisor that have assisted us throughout the search and buying process.

I worked in the chemical management group of the science department for MRIGLOBAL, a science research institute in Kansas City, Missouri. My specialty was maintaining inventory and handling of chemical and pharmaceutical research samples. My title was Sample Control Manager. During my 20-year career, I received five promotions, five Director awards, and 10 Spotlight awards.
