Today we’d like to introduce you to Chase Klusman.
Hi Chase, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story begins in a pretty ordinary place. Growing up, I was always looking for ways to earn a few extra dollars—mowing lawns, shoveling driveways, and doing odd jobs so I could walk to the gas station for a drink or stop by Wendy’s for a burger. Saving didn’t come naturally to me at first, but earning my own money taught me early on the value of work.
I was introduced to investing in high school, and that was a turning point. I became fascinated by how money could grow over time and what financial freedom could truly mean. I started investing my own money and learning how the stock market worked, which sparked a lasting interest in finance and numbers.
In college, I continued investing what I could and initially planned to pursue accounting. After completing an internship, I realized that while I enjoyed working with numbers, accounting wasn’t the right fit for me. What excited me most was the idea of helping people understand their finances and make informed decisions about their future. That realization led me to shift my focus to financial planning.
After college, I began my career as a financial advisor at OWLFI, where I gained invaluable experience working with clients and learning how real financial decisions impact real lives. Over time, I knew I wanted to build something of my own—a firm grounded in integrity, education, and the belief that if you consistently do right by people, the results will follow.
Over the past year, I’ve been focused on growing my own practice. Like any entrepreneurial journey, it’s had its ups and downs, but each experience has strengthened my perspective and reinforced why I chose this path. Every day, I’m excited to help individuals and families build financial confidence, protect what they’ve worked for, and create a future that allows them to pursue the life they’ve envisioned.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any entrepreneurial journey, the road is rarely smooth—and I never expected it to be. One of the biggest challenges has been learning through trial and error, especially when it comes to marketing. Some strategies don’t work as planned, which means time and money invested without the return you hoped for. Those moments can be discouraging, but they also provide valuable lessons.
Another challenge is learning that even when conversations feel productive and aligned, not every opportunity moves forward. Early on, you realize that outcomes aren’t always a reflection of effort or intent, but simply part of the process.
As an early-stage entrepreneur, you’re constantly solving new problems—whether they involve marketing, sales, operations, or back-office work. You wear many hats, often all in the same day. The ongoing challenge is learning how to prioritize effectively and make sure your time and energy are focused on the areas that truly move the business forward.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Yaman Financial Group?
We are Series 65–licensed financial advisors as well as licensed insurance professionals, and we operate under a fiduciary standard. That means every recommendation we make is guided by what is in the client’s best interest.
Our work is highly personalized and depends on each client’s needs. A large portion of our practice focuses on helping pre-retirees and retirees protect the assets they’ve worked hard to build and create reliable income to carry them through retirement. Through those relationships, we’ve gained valuable insight into what many retirees wish they had done—or avoided—earlier in life. We use that perspective to help individuals who are still working toward retirement make more informed, proactive decisions today.
With my background in accounting, tax efficiency plays a central role in our planning process. We consistently evaluate strategies through a tax-aware lens, knowing that what clients keep can be just as important as what they earn.
What truly sets our firm apart is the depth of planning we provide, paired with a high level of service and ongoing communication. We don’t believe financial planning is a one-time event—it’s an ongoing relationship that evolves as life changes.
From a brand perspective, we see ourselves as educators first. Our goal is to help people understand their options and feel confident in their financial decisions, no matter what stage of life they’re in.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories revolve around time spent with family and friends. Our neighborhood was always full of kids, and there was never a shortage of things to do. We played basketball in the driveway, built tree forts, and spent countless evenings playing games like Ghost in the Graveyard until it got dark.
