Today we’d like to introduce you to Marbhely Gonzalez.

Marbhely Gonzalez

Hi Marbhely, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hi, I’m Marbhely, cofounder of Bonita Café & Co. Our story started with a simple question: What kind of life would truly excite us every morning? For us—two sisters who love coffee, community, and creating beautiful experiences—the answer became clear fast.

I had walked away from corporate America with the urge to build something of my own, even though I didn’t know exactly what that would be. My sister and I had always dreamed of owning a coffee shop, and in 2025, we just knew it was time — that’s when Bonita Café & Co. was born.

What began as a small idea shared in late-night conversations turned into a dream we couldn’t let go of. We planned, and took a leap, launching a women-owned mobile coffee cart built from scratch with heart and intention. Our goal was coffee, but from day one, our mission has been bigger than that. We want everyone who visits to feel welcome, seen, and like they belong. We want our coffee to be the connection that brings people together.

Since launching, Bonita has grown faster than we ever imagined. We’ve met incredible people, partnered with amazing local brands, and felt genuine support from the Kansas City community. We’re still early in our journey, but every day reminds us why we started: to create something meaningful, warm, and built with love

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been smooth, but every challenge has shaped us. Starting Bonita from scratch meant figuring out permits, recipes, branding, and running a mobile cart. All while balancing life and pouring energy and time into our dream.

We never doubted ourselves. Every challenge pushed us to grow, and every time someone enjoys our coffee—or lights up when we bring Bonita into their space—it reminds us why we started and why this journey is so meaningful.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Bonita Café & Co., we specialize in crafting intentional coffee experiences through our women-owned mobile coffee cart. We’re known for our aesthetic setup, high-quality drinks, and the warm, welcoming energy we bring to every event. Our goal is simple: to make people feel seen, valued, and connected — one cup at a time.

Before starting Bonita, I worked in healthcare, sales, and marketing. I loved parts of that career, but eventually I realized it didn’t light me up anymore. Quitting was scary, but it opened the door for something that felt more aligned with who I am and what I wanted my life to look like.

What I’m most proud of is that we built this from nothing — no industry background, no roadmap, just heart, courage, and a genuine desire to serve people well. What sets us apart is the experience we create. It’s not just coffee; it’s the feeling. We show up with intention, with joy, and with the hope that everyone who visits us feels welcome and like they belong.
We value every client and customer, and we genuinely want to get to know you — your needs, your vision, and how we can make your event or moment truly special.

That’s what Bonita is all about, and that’s what we hope people remember.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck has definitely played a part, but I like to think it’s more about being ready to act when opportunities arise. We’ve had moments that felt like good luck. Meeting the right people, finding the perfect events to showcase Bonita, or connecting with supportive partners in the community.

Of course, there have been challenges too — timing issues, unexpected obstacles, or navigating a completely new industry. But we’ve learned to take whatever comes our way and turn it into growth.

In the end, luck might open the door, but hard work, persistence, and showing up with heart are what keep us moving forward.
