Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Carson.
Hi Travis, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Travis A. Carson, the 27-year-old Founder & CEO of LeapX, a tech startup built to eliminate waiting and simplify the restaurant experience.
I grew up with a natural instinct to solve problems and create things that make life easier. I wasn’t a top student, and I eventually dropped out of college—but that’s where my real education began. After school, I realized I had full control over my future, and that pushed me to take learning into my own hands. I started studying business intelligence, psychology, consumer behavior, and the mindset needed to build something meaningful.
A turning point came when I learned about signal vs. noise.
Signal is your top three priorities you must achieve in 24 hours.
Noise is everything that pulls you away from them.
That framework changed my discipline and narrowed my focus.
During this period of self-development, I kept hearing the same complaints from people everywhere:
“This line is too long.”
“I hate waiting.”
It wasn’t just a frustration—it was a universal behavior pattern. Research showed that 75% of people strongly dislike waiting at restaurants, and restaurants struggle with long wait times, slow order flow, and time-consuming checkout processes.
I realized this wasn’t a small annoyance—this was a global problem waiting for a real solution.
While on vacation in the Dominican Republic, away from distractions, I opened my laptop and built the first prototype of LeapX. I spent the entire trip designing screens, learning code, mapping the user experience, and creating the foundation of what LeapX could become. On the final day of that trip, the prototype was finished.
The vision was big—but I didn’t have the technical team or funding yet.
I expected to find one investor.
Instead, I found three who believed in the mission just as strongly.
With funding secured, I built a team and started developing LeapX into a real product. The journey since then has been full of obstacles, resilience, late nights, breakthroughs, and relentless focus—but each challenge shaped me into a stronger founder.
Behind the scenes, my biggest influences have been my mother Nicole and my uncle Larry—two entrepreneurs with over 60 years of combined experience. They taught me resilience, character, intelligence, and the importance of staying curious. Their values are woven into LeapX’s DNA.
Today, LeapX is preparing for its official launch in early 2026. The platform is built to give people their time back and modernize the dining experience without complicating it. Our vision is simple:
make life easier, faster, and more seamless for everyone.
LeapX isn’t just a tech product.
It’s a solution.
It’s a movement.
And it’s proof that you can start with uncertainty, follow your signal, and build something that impacts the world.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Top 5 Biggest Obstacles I’ve Faced
1. Building Without a Traditional Academic Background
Leaving college early meant I had to build my confidence and skills through self-education. I had to prove—to myself and others—that discipline and continuous learning matter more than a degree.
2. Learning the Technical Side From Scratch
I had the vision long before I had the technical skillset. Teaching myself product flow, UX, and the fundamentals of code just to create the first prototype pushed me into uncomfortable but necessary growth.
3. Creating a Prototype With No Team or Funding
Before investors came on board, it was literally just me—my laptop, my research, and my belief in solving a real problem. Turning an idea into a functioning product with no resources was one of the toughest early hurdles.
4. Finding People Who Believed in the Vision
Securing support wasn’t easy. Investors don’t just fund ideas—they fund people. Convincing others to take a chance on LeapX before anything existed required resilience, clarity, and unwavering conviction.
5. Staying Disciplined Amid Noise and Uncertainty
Learning to separate signal from noise was a major breakthrough, but it wasn’t simple. Staying committed to my top three priorities each day—while blocking out distractions, doubt, and pressure—was a constant internal battle.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about LeapX?
What do you specialize in, what are you known for, and what sets you apart?
LeapX is a technology company focused on eliminating waiting and transforming the way people experience restaurants, hospitality, and high-traffic environments. At its core, LeapX is built around one simple belief: people’s time is valuable, and the world moves better when we stop wasting it.
We specialize in creating a faster, smoother, more predictable dining experience for both guests and restaurants. Instead of juggling long lines, slow ordering processes, and delayed checkout experiences, LeapX streamlines the entire journey so that the parts customers hate most become almost invisible.
What We’re Known For
LeapX is becoming known for three major things:
1. Protecting people’s time
Everything we build centers around giving users their time back—before, during, and after their dining experience.
2. A frictionless user journey
We make it possible for guests to walk into a busy restaurant and move through their visit without the drag of waiting, flagging down servers, or waiting for the check.
3. Improving restaurant operations without extra complexity
LeapX doesn’t burden restaurants with new hardware or complicated setups. We help them operate more efficiently, turn tables faster, and serve more customers with less stress.
What Sets LeapX Apart
Most platforms focus on one side of the experience—either the customer or the restaurant.
LeapX does both.
We bridge the gap between guest convenience and restaurant efficiency. That balance is rare in this industry. We’re not just modernizing dining—we’re rethinking how time flows inside a restaurant.
We do this by:
Reducing wait times
Accelerating checkout
Increasing table turnover
Giving restaurants real-time visibility into flow and peak activity
Making the entire process feel effortless for the user
Restaurants using LeapX don’t just operate—they thrive, because a faster experience always leads to more business.
What I’m Most Proud of (Brand Wise)
I’m most proud that LeapX stands for simplicity, speed, and respect—three things consumers rarely get in dining today.
We don’t try to overwhelm people with features. We remove the clutter and elevate the experience. The brand represents clarity, modern design, and a genuine commitment to making life easier.
LeapX was built with a consumer-first mindset, and that shows in every decision we make.
What Readers Should Know About Our Brand and Offerings
LeapX is not “another app.”
It’s a solution, a system, and a new standard for how people should be treated when they spend their time and money.
Here’s what readers should know:
LeapX gives customers their time back.
LeapX helps restaurants serve more people without sacrificing quality.
LeapX makes the dining experience feel smooth, predictable, and modern.
LeapX is designed to work for everyone—families, couples, solo diners, busy professionals, and restaurants of all sizes.
We’re launching in early 2026, and we’re building something that will not only benefit Kansas City, but set the tone for the future of hospitality. LeapX is here to create better experiences, stronger businesses, and a world where waiting is no longer part of the equation.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Absolutely. If there’s one message I want readers to take away, it’s this: your time is your most valuable asset. Once it’s gone, you don’t get it back—and that truth is at the heart of everything we’re building at LeapX.
I also want people to know that innovation doesn’t require perfection. I didn’t come from a traditional tech background. I wasn’t the top student. I failed more times than I can count. But I stayed committed to learning, growing, and staying locked in on my signal—my purpose.
LeapX exists because I listened to real people, real complaints, and real frustrations. Sometimes the greatest companies come from paying attention to the simple things everyone else overlooks.
Lastly, I want to encourage entrepreneurs, creators, and anyone chasing something bigger than themselves: start where you are. Don’t wait for ideal conditions, the perfect moment, or permission. Every step, every mistake, every pivot shapes the version of you who can build something meaningful.
LeapX is launching in early 2026, and I’m honored to share this vision with Kansas City first. We’re creating something that will touch millions of lives—and it all started with an idea, a problem, and the belief that time should work for people, not against them.
I appreciate every reader, supporter, and future user who believes in what we’re building. The best is ahead.
