Today we’d like to introduce you to Travis Curley.
Hi Travis , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started in the jewelry business at a young age as it was a family business. After high school I went to get my gemological degree at GIA, and just had after that I went to work full time in the family business traveling and selling manufactured jewelry and closeouts to jewelry stores. My parents decided to retire about 6 years ago and I continued the business for a few more years until another opportunity presented its self. The other opportunity was buying a car dealership with a friend of mine, at that point in life my wife and I had our first child and I was ready to be done traveling so we went full into the car lot. We invested in other commercial real estate over the years including storage, and car washes. We decided to sell our investments and part ways as my partner and his family moved to Florida. This is when I decided to get back into the luxury business as I really enjoy it, starting Luxury Buyer Kc. I started Luxury Buyer Kc for people to have a place to come and have a one on one private experience to sell their un wanted luxury items such as watches, jewelry, coins, gold, handbags. People either bring me things that they have inherited or things that they just dont wear anymore and they want to turn it into cash!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being an entrepreneur there are no smooth roads, it comes with sleepless nights, constant worry about where your next dollar is going to come from, how you are going to keep your business floating. You have to be constantly thinking into the future to make sure you stay up on all trends, and market conditions. All that being said I wouldn’t trade it for anything, I love a challenge and love seeing when I can improve a business, or property. Bringing it to its fullest potential is so rewarding.

At Luxury Buyer Kc I specialize in purchasing luxury items such as watches, jewelry, gold, silver, coins, and hand bags. I help people who have either inherited these items or just don’t wear these items anymore. What sets my business apart is me staying up on all these markets, and being in the business for a long time insuring I am able to give people top dollar for their items. I also run on a very low overhead compared to my competitors and that allows me to pay more for items as well! I pride myself on treating people how I would want to be treated.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important thing I have learned is to stay vigilant, the moment you get comfortable there will be someone else working hard to take over your market or territory. There is room for everyone but if you want to be the best at what you do you must make it known who you are.
