Inspiring Conversations with Angie Hasenbank of Hasenbank Accounting Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Hasenbank.

Angie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my career as an accountant with a simple goal: to work from home and spend more time with my husband and son. In the beginning, I had just a handful of clients—one of them happened to be a Managed Services Provider (MSP). That connection opened the door to the IT industry, and soon, referrals started pouring in. IT accounting became our niche.
As the business grew, I faced a choice: turn away new clients or scale up. I’ve always been someone who wants to help others, so saying “no” wasn’t an option. About six years ago, I hired my first employee—a friend—who worked with me at my dining room table. Then we added another friend, and another. Within a year, we realized we needed an office. Today, that small idea has grown into a team of 26 passionate professionals.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t been without challenges—many, in fact. From finding help to finding the right help, every step has been a learning experience. Being an accountant didn’t automatically mean I knew how to run a business, so there’s been plenty of trial and error along the way. Thankfully, I’ve had incredible people who offered advice, guidance, and support, and that has made all the difference.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
At Hasenbank Accounting Services, we go beyond the numbers. We take the time to understand each client’s unique business, anticipate your needs, and identify potential gaps before they become obstacles. Over the years, we’ve earned a strong reputation in the IT industry as a trusted accounting partner. Our Managed Service Providers (MSPs) not only rely on us but confidently refer other MSPs and their clients to our team. What I’m most proud of is that we’ve become more than just an accounting firm—we’ve become a true partner in our clients’ success.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I believe the best way to network is to be authentic, treat people well, and let your actions speak for themselves—because when you genuinely do right by others, it always comes back to you.
