Today we’d like to introduce you to Toni Boehm.
Toni, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Toni G. Boehm, BA, CNP, MSN, Ph.D.
A recap of my life story must begin with a caveat, I believe I have always been a leading edge pioneer and visionary,. It seems that I always knew and understood trends, and then use those trends to develop my next level of engagement with life.
I began my professional career as a nurse and was quickly identified in the 1970s by the dean of the medical school at UMKC, as someone who was bright and very effective and efficient. He asked if I would like to attend KU’s new nurse practitioner program. Of course I said yes, and then returned to the hospital to become ahead of a clinic. It was the first Nurse practitioner managed clinic in the area.. after a couple of years Hallmark decided to turn their medical department into a wellness clinic, this was right after Herbert Benson, M.D. wrote his first article on stress. There were over 300 applicants, and I was selected for this position. I stayed in that position for nearly 8 years. During this time hallmark sent me for my masters degree, at UMKC. Then as a clinical nurse specialist, Hallmark, as part of community outreach, supported me, in teaching physical assessment, at the University. My thesis was oriented towards stress in the workplace, especially stress in executives. This was a subject that was very pioneering, and there was not much written about it,I began writing articles based on my thesis,, one of which was accepted by a medical magazine.. From this I was selected to present my thesis at the John Hopkins medical symposium at John Hopkins University.
Shortly after this, I was recruited by the American nurses Association, which was still in Kansas City., to be a senior staff specialist, supporting the creation of best standards of practice, testing, and certification for nurses in various areas. I left Hallmark and took that position and stayed for about two years., it was not a position I loved, like my other positions , but I did learn a lot.
Also, during this time my personal life and marriage fell apart, and I I entered the spiritual path. I was very committed and devoted to my spiritual path and spiritual practices., I started to become known in these circles and when the position of Dean of Administration came open at Unity school of Christianity ministerial school I I was recruited, and got the position.
During this time, I began to write books, with my first book being, The Spiritual Intraprenuer. An. intrapreneur is one who learns to build and live their life from focusing first inside and then taking action as guided ~ vs.. an entrepreneur who tends to be looking outside for opportunities.
Additionally, during this time I began to write about the divine feminine, the feminine nature of the divine and what it brings to us as we begin to open our heart to new levels of awareness. . This was not part of the radical feminism of the 70s and 80s. This was a higher level approach to the divine feminine and how she awakens, compassion and new levels of understanding within us.. as part of this pioneering element I began to do women’s retreats, and “anointing” women into their wisdom years. All in all I believe during that time I “anointed” over 2000 women into their own wisdom and understanding.
Also, during this time, my first books were commercially published, I discovered LightningSource and self publishing and I became my own publishing house, InnerVisioning press. It was remarkable journey, discovering all the ins and outs., but in the end, it worked really well for me, as an author and Publisher.
I stayed in this position for nearly 20 years, wrote several books during this time finish the PhD with American university, all the while traveling the world visiting over 108 countries ~ I traveled for both work and as a personal love of adventure. By 2005 I was now vice president of education and hospitality and retreats at Unity, when I had an accident at work. I fell and hit my head, knocked myself out, and when I came to, I had no short-term memory.. I had a mild traumatic brain injury ~ this occurrence changed my life at depth. I had to take a leave of absence and then after three months I still knew I could not go back cause I still couldn’t really put two coherent sentences together, in fact, it took 18 months to truly heal. But during that time, my life changed dramatically and my spiritual life deepened. It was during that time I found the quote by Nikola Tesla that says ~ if you want to know how the universe works think in terms of energy vibration and frequency. I began a quest to understand this from a spiritual perspective and it unfolded so many unexpected synchronicity that I now call them synchro divinities.. These synchro-divine events shaped the next segment of my life.
I began writing books again, oriented towards the spiritual journey and spiritual unfoldment at deeper level levels. I was asked by another arm of Unity to come back and and be the director of a new team of Ministry consults. I was asked to develop leading edge curriculum, for Ministry boards and teams, and to train the consultants who would go out and work with the ministries, this included myself. Using what I had learned from my deep dive into the Tesla quote, I began to see crisis in a whole different way. I began to see it as an energetic puzzle piece that has come come out of place in order to rearrange the picture… In order to allow something new to emerge. From here, I began to write leading edgebooks, oriented towards energy, vibration, and frequency. And their impact on the spiritual journey and teamwork..
I I became certified as an organizational coach, and began organizational consulting, and this brings me to today I still do organizational consulting, and my last book was on energy, dynamics, energy management for boards and teams.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were many struggles along the way, although I had the backing of the dean to become a nurse practitioner running the clinic was not always smooth because I was not always accepted by the doctors. Same thing at Hallmark., the doctors were very upset that I was coming in to run a clinic. So I was constantly breaking through glass ceilings and preparing the way for the nurse practitioners of today. Even as a woman, Dean back in the 80s. It was not always easy for those positions were normally held by men..
Then my head injury brought me to a dark night of the soul which was totally devastating as it tore through to change me at depth
In 2007, my husband was diagnosed with a devastating illness and was supposed to be dead in six weeks. I nursed him back to wholeness., along with a wonderful Doctor Who was by our side the whole way, although he lived, he has been sick now for over 20 years and I have been a caretaker during this time while still moving forward on my path and journey as a leading edge pioneer.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
although my professional career has been very exciting and fulfilling, it is the creative aspects of writing that has really opened my soul and supported me in discovering steps on the path of evolutionary unfoldment, not just for me, but for all of humankind.
I have to date written about 14 books and I can see now in retrospect that they really are about how the journey, the spiritual journey unfolds within us from an evolutionary perspective.
What matters most to you? Why?
The spiritual evolution of consciousness, and playing my part in being a role model for that in the world.
