Today we’d like to introduce you to Zachary Jones.
Hi Zachary, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I am native Kansan, born and raised in Overland Park, with a fine art and design background studying at the Kansas City Art Institute. Post studies, I swiftly pursued interest in large scale functional and aesthetic spaces with a local luxury home builder to create unique homes around the Kansas City metro area. With my construction experiences and passion for unique design and aesthetic values, an opportunity arose to apprentice and succeed Dennis Miller, owner of Miller Built Custom Cabinets, a local craftsman and professional cabinetry builder practicing in the Downtown Overland Park manufacturing facility of the past 30 years . As his successor, I have synthesized my manufacturing knowledge, with construction experience and passion for design to create hundreds of custom cabinetry projects in every corner of the community to continue the craftsmanship tradition.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Transitioning to business ownership and operator has been a very robust and challenging experience. You can have all the skills you think you need to pull off an objective until unexpected events challenge your abilities. Taking over the business during a global pandemic and volatile political climates have presented unique challenges. We have strived to adapt and overcome material supply shortages and cost increase as well as skilled labor shortages while maintaining our values for quality and aesthesis for the past 5 years.

Miller Built Legacy provides interior design and cabinetry manufacturing services. We specialize in bespoke custom built case goods and furnishing products. Our passion is to add functionality, quality and aesthetic value to any space or home. We utilized handmade woodworking techniques along with contemporary technologies to provide functional solutions to your interior space from traditional to modern styles. Since every space is different, our ability to understand the vision of the space and customer expectation by bringing concept to reality makes this work feel most rewarding to us. Our ability to provide a custom product to every customer and our willingness to be challenged by offering beyond traditional solutions allows us to shine amongst our competitors.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Deep sea fishing with my father off the Florida Keys staying overnight on a small vessel overnight to wake up to an all day fishing extravaganza where I had to fight hard to reel in and catch yellowtail as big and tall as me.
