Exploring Life & Business with Rachel Pierce of Studio P

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Pierce.

Hi Rachel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Rachel Pierce and I own Studio P, a private personal training studio for women in Kansas City. I have worked in the fitness industry for the last 14 years from collegiate strength and conditioning to corporate wellness, and it wasn’t until I began personal training six years ago that I realized there was a massive gap in the industry for women.

Women have been taught through pop culture and media in the past few decades to shrink, stay small, eat as little as possible, and to chase each new fitness trend as they come on the scene. We have cycled through things like low fat diets, the unrealistic body standards of the 90s and early 2000s in movies and on TV, and the idea that women should stick to cardio. My work as a private female personal trainer has focused on doing my part to rewrite that narrative with three key elements: strength-based training methods so that women can keep create sustainable results, an education-forward focus so they feel confident walking into the free weights section of the gym, and a coaching style that helps women finally feel capable and proud of their bodies, perhaps for the first time in their lives.

My husband and I moved from Boston to Kansas City 2 years ago, and I knew that I wanted to open a private personal training studio that reflected that philosophy. I imagined a place where women could learn to lift heavy while in an environment that felt elevated, grounded, and feminine, a place that smells like eucalyptus, not chalk and sweat.

I opened Studio P six months ago, and clients have told me that they see it as a calm and empowering alternative to crowded and overstimulating fitness spaces. I love what I do so much, and I am excited to watch Studio P continue to grow!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been two big adjustments along the way, the first was moving my business from Boston to Kansas City two years ago, and the second was having a baby soon after I moved here! It initially felt daunting to start over with my business, to network and to rebuild my clientele while navigating first time motherhood, but Kansas City has been so welcoming. The Midwest warmth and support here have truly made this place feel like home, and I’m so grateful for the community I’ve found within the fitness industry, the local entrepreneur space here, and mom friends!

I knew when I had my son that I still wanted to continue doing the work I love, but I also wanted to be present with him. The creation and ownership of Studio P has allowed me to do both, to show up fully for my clients while also having dedicated days during the week at home with him. Motherhood has also given me greater appreciation for moms because pursuing fitness while juggling so much is challenging, but I’ve learned first hand that it’s not impossible. Strength just looks different in every season!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Studio P is a private appointment-only personal training studio for women in Kansas City, specializing in strength-based training with real weights. I take an education-first approach so that clients can achieve results while also having the tools and knowledge to maintain them long after their time working with me. I prioritize intention over intensity and setting women up for success for the long haul, not just a quick fix for now.

What really makes Studio P unique is how it bridges the gap between two wide sides of the fitness industry for women. On one side – and yes, big generalizations here – you have heavy weights, the chalk, and a gritty energy that can often feel intense or intimidating. On the other side, you have the beautiful and warm aesthetic spaces you often associate with bodyweight boutique studios.

Studio P meets women in the middle, where strength and softness can coexist. It’s for the woman who wants to take her strength training seriously, without being in a harsh or intimidating environment. All sessions at the studio are fully private, one on one, and typically an hour long, giving each client a completely personalized and distraction-free experience.

Beyond the studio, I will be hosting Studio P pop-up workout events throughout Kansas City beginning early 2026, This event series are designed bring the essence of Studio P – strength-forward workouts, thoughtful details, and connection – beyond the walls and out into the city. Whether inside the studio or out in the community, the mission remains the same: to create a calm and inspiring space where women can lift well and live well.
