Today we’d like to introduce you to Don Clinton Thompson.
Don Clinton, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Started playing guitar in local bands in and around Springfield, Mo. in the early 70’s. First “big time” gig was with Brewer&Shipley for 2 years on the road. Next was singer/songwriter Steve Forbert in the early 80’s. Formed the bands The Skeletons and later the Morells in the 80’s. Did 4 years with the Ozark Mountain Daredevils on record and on the road Backed up Dave Alvin and Syd Straw on record and on the road. Co-produced Jonathan Richman album “Jonathan Goes Country” Reformed The Skeletons and later The Morells. Recently released my 1st solo album “Donnie’s Mood” under the name D. Clinton Thompson. Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m mostly a guitar player. I’ve been a full-time musician my entire adult life. That’s what I’m mostly known for as far as I know. I’m most proud of being 74 years old and still busy in the music business. What sets me apart? I don’t know. I need you guys to tell me.
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
My favorite book is always the one I’m reading now. It’s a biography of Mark Twain by Ron Chernow. I’m still not sure what an app is. As far as podcasts, Jon Stewart and Al Franken,
