Today we’d like to introduce you to Skylar Botteron.
Skylar, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I graduated from esthetics school back in 2015 with hopes of working in skincare and maybe even in a medical spa one day. I spent a few years trying out different jobs in the industry, hoping to find that perfect fit, but eventually realized that side of esthetics just wasn’t something I truly enjoyed.
I ended up applying for a job as a wax specialist (even though I didn’t have much experience in waxing) and completely fell in love with it. I worked for that company for almost five years before I decided to take the leap and go solo into my own suite in Raymore. I’ve been waxing for a total of 8 years now, crazy how time flies!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Like anyone starting a business for the first time, it definitely wasn’t all that smooth. In the beginning, I was just trying to figure out everything I needed before opening and stressing about whether anyone would even come in. Thankfully, I’ve built such an amazing clientele who continue to support me and my small business, and I’m so grateful for that.
Another challenge has been balancing home and work life. I’m a mom of three, so between the kids and keeping up with everything that comes with running a business, it can get overwhelming at times. But I’m still learning, growing, and finding that balance every day.

At Freshly Waxed, I specialize in full-body waxing. My main goal with every service is to make sure you feel 100% comfortable while having the most painless experience possible. I want your appointment to feel more like a quick gossip or vent session rather than a waxing session. Nothing makes me happier than when a client hops up after their service saying, “Oh, that wasn’t that bad!” or when I read a review about how much they loved their experience.
