Hidden Gems: Meet Tiffany Downing of The Path Less Taken Hypnosis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Downing.

Hi Tiffany, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I had been a massage therapist for about 15 years when I started feeling like I needed to look for another career path, because I knew I wouldn’t be able to do massage forever. During the lock down in 2020, I had a lot of time to do some soul searching and inner healing. I joined an online summit of women healers sharing their gifts, feeling that there was something there for me.

When the last presenter on the last day began her interview, I knew she was who I was waiting for. She was a hypnotist, and as soon as she began speaking, something within me lit up. I was meant to work with her.

In January of 2021, I scheduled my first appointment with her over Zoom since she lives in Hawaii. I didn’t know what to expect at all and soon found out that hypnosis is an incredible tool to help heal so many things!

We worked together to help me process grief, abandonment issues, self-confidence, inner child healing, past life regression, trauma, and so much more through our many sessions. However, it wasn’t until I was listening to a hypnosis recording for relaxation by another hypnotist that I realized this was what I was meant to do.

As I was deeply hypnotized sitting on my couch relaxing to this recording, my conscience mind was thinking, “I think this is what I am supposed to do next. I can do this!” Once the recording was over, I reached out to this hypnotist and asked for the information on where she trained, and in 2022, I took that training and became a hypnotist myself.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I continued doing massage therapy as I began building my hypnosis business, and in 2024, on my 20th anniversary as a massage therapist, I retired from massage and began only doing hypnosis. It has been a relatively smooth transition, yet a little slow growing. I am just now feeling like things are picking up and business is looking good.

We’ve been impressed with The Path Less Taken Hypnosis , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I help people become the best versions of themselves; their favorite versions of themselves. I use Somatic Hypnosis to do that.

Think of our brains as computers, and our thoughts and beliefs as the programs our computers run. If those programs are outdated or no longer helpful, our computers aren’t going to work as efficiently as they could. I help people to reprogram their old, outdated thoughts and beliefs that are no longer working for their highest good.

My work is different from other hypnotists in that I combine somatic therapy into my sessions. Hypnosis addresses the subconscious mind where somatic therapy addresses how the body is responding to the experience the client is having at any given moment. By combining the two modalities, I feel I am better able to help the whole person on a deeper level than by using either modality alone.

I am so proud of the work I share with my clients. Hypnosis fascinates me, and I absolutely love to see people changing their lives so beautifully.

I share private sessions at my office within Olathe Holistic in downtown Olathe, as well as group session there and at The Energy Within in South Overland Park.

How do you think about luck?
I don’t know that luck has played a role in my business, but listening to my intuition definitely has. There have been so many moments in my life when opportunities have fallen into my lap, and I’ve listened to my intuition when it’s told me “this is the next path you should take.”
