Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristopher King.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started remodeling when I was 12. I would help my mom remodel apartments around the South side of Chicago.
I was raised in a single parent household so making ends meet was always tough – I vowed early on that I would never go back to that and have been “hustling” ever since I finished trade school.
I’ve always had a passion for making something better and I had always loved working with my hands. I was in Property Maintenance/HVAC/Plumbing/Electrical for over 20 years and then I decided that I wanted more freedom and time with my family. So, I decided to take the leap into entrepreneurship, and I started Patriot of All Trades in 2021. The concept started out as a play on words from ‘Jack of All Trades” because I could literally do it all. Over the years, I have learned that I am skilled at most things surrounding trades, but I am best at and enjoy finish work like tile, flooring, and finish carpentry.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not even a little bit! Most people start a business to have more time, more money, and more freedom. Any business owner learns pretty quickly that you actually have way less of all of those things when you first start a business. I have been pushed past my limits numerous times and have had to learn a lot of things along the way. But I have learned perseverance throughout it all.
We’ve been impressed with Patriot of All Trades, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Patriot of All Trades is a remodeling & property maintenance company that specializes in residential and commercial renovations and finishings. We have a strong focus on kitchen and bathroom renovations, tile, flooring, and finish carpentry. Our experience and connections allow us to keep the entire scope of the project in house under one project manager, which saves you time, scheduling headaches, and having to deal with multiple contractors. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail, quality, and communication throughout the project.
