Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Monalisa Monique of Raytown

Monalisa Monique shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Monalisa , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity is most important because without it, intelligence and energy can be misused. Integrity ensures trust, consistency, and doing the right thing even when no one is watching.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Monalisa Monique — an inspiring author whose work blends faith, creativity, and real-life experiences to uplift and encourage others. From heartfelt devotionals like Talk to God to empowering reads such as Unveiling Love: A Journey Through Diamonds, My writing is rooted in authenticity and purpose. I’m passionate about guiding children, youth, and families, and my books reflect a deep commitment to helping people find strength, hope, and joy in every season of life. Whether you’re looking for inspiration, a meaningful gift, or a new perspective, I invite you to join my journey of faith, love, and creativity.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
God saw me clearly before I could see myself because He created me with purpose and knew my worth even when I doubted it. He understood my strengths, flaws, and future long before I recognized them. His vision for me has always been greater than what I could see on my own.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me resilience, compassion, and gratitude in ways success never could. It showed me how to endure, how to truly value moments of peace, and how to connect with others through shared struggles. Where success can feel rewarding, suffering built my character and deepened my faith.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I admire myself for my character, not my power. That may appear cocky, but it’s really about self-respect. I’ve endured challenges, stayed true to my values, and continued to grow without letting circumstances harden my heart. Admiring myself means recognizing the strength of my character and the integrity I choose daily.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left, I would stop enduring hurt caused by the actions of others. I would put myself first more often and no longer live as a people pleaser or a doormat. My focus would be on protecting my peace and living authentically.
