Today we’d like to introduce you to Breanna Canning.
Hi Breanna, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My dad and I were both in the logistics and warehouse management industries, and he was looking into health solutions for him and my mom. He was frustrated with the lack of physicians willing to look deeper into what they truly needed, and at the high cost associated with the treatments they were looking into. He ended up connecting with some business coaches that encouraged him to be his own solution! He asked me to come on board and run the day to day operations, and start a small weight loss clinic with the goal of being accessible, and promoting sustainable wellness and health solutions for people in our community. I jumped on board with the agreement I could work to shift the “weight loss” culture from being skinny to something that went deeper: understanding how nutrition, exercise, and medical weight loss could work together to help change overall lifestyle and improve health outlooks. I wanted to create a supportive environment that encouraged healthy and sustainable choices- not just trendy diets.
Shortly after opening we began to dive deeper into the impacts hormones have on weight gain and loss, and found a whole new world of undertreated issues. We sent our provider Sarah to multiple trainings and helped her specialize in hormone replacement for both men and women to paid with her specialty in weight loss. This was the thing that set us apart: we put together comprehensive, personalized plans for our clients that get to the root of what is actually happening, not just apply a band aid! 2.5 years later, we have now added new services, built a bigger team, and have seen hundreds of clients’ lives changed by just being willing to look a little deeper.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh absolutely not!! We jumped into this industry with no experience- and let me tell you the medical wellness and aesthetic industry can be so cut throat! We’ve dealt with legal issues involving unethical device sales reps, practitioners that did not provide the best support for our clients, and staffing struggles as well. Not to mention the medical weight loss industry is always changing their compliance standards and expectations. We’ve had to pivot more times than not. There were many nights I went home to my husband and had to tell him I was skipping another paycheck due to legal fees or high bills that month. But, the vision has stayed the same and our clients are so kind and loyal. They’ve made it worth all the work.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We have evolved into a Medical Wellness and Aesthetics space. Adding aesthetics like laser, botox, etc. has been so much fun, but we’ve remained primarily wellness which is where our passion is. We are known for our weight loss program which sets us apart due to how comprehensive it is. Our clients pay a flat monthly rate and receive access to any required medication, unlimited communication with the medical team, monthly checkins with a provider, custom dosing, micronutrient optimization, lab work, and nutritional guidance. After nearly 3 years of doing this, we have found the system that works for our clients, and a simple membership model that makes it accessible. We are so proud of our client results. I have several that have lost over 100lbs during their time with us and have kept it off by changing nutrition, lifestyle, and their mindset. By pairing hormone and thyroid replacement therapy with weight loss for many of our clients, we can dig even deeper and treat the root cause of their weight gain. I’m also the nutritionist, and my primary goal for every client is that they learn to be more intuitive with their food choices, and we find small changes that fit into their lifestyle, time constraints, preferences, etc. What a 25 year old man needs is different than a 35 year old mom of 3. Offering personalized recommendations paired with education has made a world of difference in our client results. I’ve coached and consulted with many other spas and wellness centers helping them to develop similar programs and models over the years so theyb can offer better, more comprehensive solutions as well.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
So many people!! Our medical director Sarah Martin has been the backbone of our space and does such an incredible job providing quality care for our clients, giving them realistic expectations on their treatment goals, and personalizing their plans to fit their needs. I have several sales reps that have saved my business multiple times by offering insight and advice based on their years of experience in the industry. My husband spends his free time at work with me hanging shelves, replacing floors, fixing my printer… he’s an unsung hero to us! And our team! It’s so hard to find people who align with your goals and want to work hard for the bigger picture. I’m so grateful for who I have in place now. Lastly our VIP clients. We love them so much, they are the ones that come in for a 10 minute appointment and stay for an hour. They’ve let me try new things with them and fail and retry more than you want to know. They always answer the phone when I have ideas to bounce off them, and are so gracious when things go wrong.
