Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We actually met through our daughters and quickly discovered we had a lot in common, both of us come from project management backgrounds and shared an entrepreneurial interest. We wanted the opportunity for a creative outlet while balancing family life. After brainstorming a list of all the fun, inspiring side hustles we’d love to explore, sleepover tents rose to the top.
What began as a small idea has now grown, three years later, into a full pop-up party business offering the Kansas City area boutique-style tent sleepovers, spa parties, pretty picnics, patch and craft parties, and custom balloons and backdrops. Each experience is thoughtfully designed to be on-trend, visually stunning, and unforgettable for our party guests.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of our biggest challenges early on was that the tent sleepover market in Kansas City was already pretty saturated, so we had to find a way to stand out through both style and value. From the start, our goal was to offer upscale, beautifully designed party experiences for the metro area—especially in the Northland, where there weren’t many options available at the time.
We also didn’t anticipate becoming a balloon business, but demand took off quickly. We taught ourselves through online videos and classes, and now balloon installations make up nearly a quarter of our business. It’s been one of our favorite surprises—something that started as an add-on has grown into a major part of what we do.
