Today we’d like to introduce you to Conner Spangler.
Hi Conner, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Looking back, I can see how invisible threads have guided me to where I am today — moments and experiences that didn’t seem connected at the time but ultimately led me here. The seed for coaching was planted when I was 20 and serving as the leader of a large student organization at the University of Missouri. I discovered how much I loved helping others find confidence and purpose in their own leadership. A few years later, I spent a year traveling the country, connecting with college women and empowering them to lead well; An experience that deepened my passion for personal growth and mentorship.
From there, I transitioned into a career in human resources, supporting employees through the many phases of their professional journeys. Over time, I began to see a common theme: people crave space to be heard, encouraged, and guided as they navigate change. That realization, paired with my own growth along the way, inspired me to pursue my coaching certification and launch Conner Spangler Coaching.
Today, I work primarily with women who are navigating seasons of transition, helping them cultivate confidence, clarity, and a sense of peace in the process. It’s been incredibly fulfilling to watch those early “threads” come together into something that now helps others grow.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most meaningful journeys, it definitely hasn’t been a perfectly smooth road, but I’m grateful for that. Each challenge has shaped me into a better coach.
When I first started my business, one of the biggest hurdles was simply starting — moving past the doubts, fears, and questions of “who am I to do this?” Stepping into something new required me to practice the same courage and self-trust I now help my clients build.
Another challenge has been educating people about what coaching really is (and what it’s not). Many people have heard of coaching but aren’t quite sure how it differs from therapy or mentoring. I’ve learned that part of my role is helping others understand that coaching is about forward movement. It’s goal-oriented, growth-focused, and designed to help clients uncover their own clarity and confidence. It’s also for anyone! Coaching can benefit people in every stage of life, whether you’re navigating college, career changes, or personal transitions.
Finally, there have been practical challenges, like balancing entrepreneurship with another career and learning to grow my business authentically without burning out. I’ve had to remind myself that growth doesn’t have to happen all at once, but that slow, steady progress is still progress.
Looking back, I can see that the challenging moments were actually invitations to pause, reflect, and realign. They’ve taught me that grace and persistence go hand in hand, and that transformation, for myself and my clients, always takes time.
As you know, we’re big fans of Conner Spangler Coaching. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Conner Spangler Coaching is a life coaching practice based in Kansas City that helps women navigate both seasons of transition and seasons where they want more clarity, confidence, or intentional direction in their lives. I work with clients who are figuring out “what’s next” after college, stepping into a new career path, navigating leadership opportunities, or simply wanting to feel more grounded, confident, and aligned with their goals.
My coaching style is calm, relational, and intentional. I believe growth happens through reflection, grace, and practical action, so my sessions blend thoughtful conversation with tools that help clients move forward with purpose. I’m proud of the heart that lives behind my brand. My brand is built around the metaphor of growth — the idea that we’re all planted with seeds of potential that, when nurtured, can bloom into something beautiful.
There are a variety of coaching offerings and levels available, designed to meet clients where they are — both in their phase of life and in the resources they have available. I offer one-on-one coaching sessions, workshops, and speaking engagements for organizations and groups who want to bring personal development and intentional leadership to their environment. Whether someone is a college student just beginning their personal growth journey or a professional seeking clarity and balance, I want coaching to feel accessible and supportive.
I work to create an atmosphere where clients feel seen, safe, and supported…a space that invites both reflection and transformation. Coaching can feel deeply personal, so I want every client to leave a session feeling lighter, clearer, and more confident in who they are and where they’re going.
Ultimately, I want readers to know that coaching isn’t just for major life changes; It’s for anyone who wants to grow intentionally and feel more grounded in their everyday life.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have a network of mentors, supporters, and cheerleaders who have shaped both me personally and professionally.
My parents instilled in me the values of entrepreneurship, hard work, generosity, and putting others first — lessons that continue to guide the way I lead my business and support my clients.
My husband has been a constant source of encouragement from day one. He’s supported every new initiative, always cheering me on to try the next thing, and reminding me to trust the process even when it feels uncertain.
I’ve also been fortunate to learn from coaching mentors who have generously shared their experience and knowledge. One of the things I love most about the coaching community is how naturally collaborative it is; coaches are some of the most “sharing” people I’ve ever met; There’s no gatekeeping, only a genuine desire to help others grow.
My past professional colleagues have been invaluable in shaping my perspective. Working across a variety of business types and team functions taught me how teams operate efficiently, the importance of collaboration, and the power of putting others first to create success — lessons I bring directly into my coaching practice.
And I can’t leave out my clients themselves. Their openness, courage, and commitment to growth inspire me every day. Coaching is a collaborative journey, and I learn just as much from my clients as they do from me.
Each of these individuals has contributed in unique ways, and I’m deeply grateful for their guidance, support, and belief in me.
