Exploring Life & Business with Maxine Ho of Law office of Maxine HO, APC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maxine Ho.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Since beginning my legal career in 2004, I have built a reputation grounded in tenacity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to my clients. I began my journey at a boutique civil and family law firm, where my dedication quickly earned me the role of associate in charge of all family law matters.

From 2008 to 2011, I expanded my expertise at a six-attorney family law firm, managing every aspect of MY cases—from initial consultations to final judgments. This experience deepened my understanding of client needs and the importance of guiding them through emotionally complex transitions with clarity and care.

In the years that followed, I continued to refine my skills across several family law practices, consistently entrusted with full responsibility over my cases. My reputation for thorough preparation and compassionate advocacy led to my recruitment by a national law firm, where I served as the senior associate for the family law division, overseeing consultations, litigation, and client relations.

When management changes altered the firm’s direction, my clients’ trust and loyalty inspired me to establish my own practice in April 2016. Since then, I have successfully built a thriving practice focused exclusively on family law, offering personalized attention and practical guidance to every client at a very reasonable price.

With over two decades of family law experience, I believe my legal acumen, integrity, empathy, and reasoned approach to resolving disputes make me stand out from the pack. My clients often describe me as a fierce advocate with a human touch—someone who truly listens, fights for what’s right, and makes them feel heard.

My philosophy is simple: “Family law isn’t just about legal issues—it’s about people, their stories, and helping them move forward.” I continue to offer high-caliber representation with reasonable fees, making quality legal counsel accessible without compromise.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It took some time for me to hone my skills. At one point, I even went to work for a civil law firm because I was at a crossroads about family law. However, after working there for only a couple of months, I realized that family law was the area of law that I wanted to focus on since it allowed me to work with clients on a very personal level. Since that time, I never looked back and only moved forward.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Law office of Maxine HO, APC?
My brand is built on tenacity, compassion, and personalized attention. I believe every client deserves not just a lawyer, but an advocate who genuinely listens and understands their story. I combine strategic legal expertise with empathy and integrity, ensuring my clients feel informed, supported, and confident every step of the way. My practice is known for providing high-quality family law representation with a personal touch and reasonable fees—a rare balance in today’s legal market.

I’m most proud of the trust and loyalty my clients place in me. Over the years, many have followed me through different firms and supported me when I opened my own practice in 2016. That loyalty is a reflection of my commitment to results, professionalism, and care. I take pride in being a hands-on attorney—the person who knows every detail of the case, communicates directly, and stands by my clients from start to finish.

I’m also proud of the team I’ve built, especially my assistant, whose dedication and efficiency allow me to stay fully focused on my clients’ legal needs. Together, we’ve created a practice known for responsiveness, reliability, and results.

When clients hire me, they work exclusively with me—not passed between junior associates or case managers. I am known for being highly responsive, typically returning calls or emails within 24 to 48 hours, and for providing clear, straightforward guidance during what is often one of the most stressful times in a person’s life.

My approach blends strategic advocacy and genuine compassion, ensuring that each client receives both strong legal representation and emotional understanding. Family law is deeply personal—and I take pride in helping people find stability, resolution, and peace of mind when they need it most.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
There was an incident that occurred when I was young, not in childhood, that helped shape me into the person that I am. I remember tagging along with my sister to go study with her at UCI. She was a 2nd year while I was still in high school. She parked in a space that had a sign designated as short-term parking. We arrived at 8 pm and parked there for 1 hour.. When we came out, there was a ticket on her windshield for $20.00. She was bummed, but I got upset over the violation. I wrote to the parking commission and explained that we had parked there for 1 hour. It was unclear what was considered short-term. All signage had designated times, including a carpool parking space, yet the short term didn’t. I explained it was confusing and suggested that time allotment should be used, ie, when short-term would be enforced and what is considered short-term.

About 3 weeks later, my sister received a notice in the mail, and her ticket was dismissed. I thought, “Good.” However, I later returned to the parking lot with my sister and found that the signage now included the allotment of time for short-term parking. My sister exclaimed, “Your letter did something, so now everyone will know when they can park here.” I was elated but didn’t think much of it until later on when I was pulled over by a police officer on 2 separate occasions. I was able to convince both to let me go without being issued a ticket. After that, I knew that I wanted to pursue law.
