Exploring Life & Business with Marcus Kelcher of Elite College Identification Camps Inc

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marcus Kelcher.

Marcus Kelcher

Hi Marcus, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I graduated from Missouri Baptist University with a major in Business Marketing. I was a member of the Missouri Baptist Men’s Soccer Team that was ranked among the elite NAIA teams during my time at Missouri Baptist University.

After completion of my college soccer career, I was added to the Men’s soccer staff at Missouri Baptist University, where I served for one season.  In the Fall of 2004, I became the Director of Coaching for the KC Bayern Munich Soccer Club.

In the Spring of 2005 I was named the Head Coach for the Arch Bishop O’Hara High School women’s soccer team, eventually leading O’Hara to 3 straight AMC Conference Titles, 1 District Title, and a combined record of 56-16-1.

In the Fall of 2007, I moved to Omaha, NE and became the Director of Coaching and Player Development for the Toro Soccer Club.  Duties include overseeing all aspects of player development, youth academies, training curriculum, coaching education, tournament and showcase events, and marketing.  In December of 2011 I parted ways from Toro Soccer Club and started an all girls competitive club called the Elite Girls Academy.  The club would gain membership acceptance into the girls’ Elite Clubs National League in 2016.  During my time in Omaha I lead teams to twenty one state championships, four Region II Championships and was names the Adidas Regional Female Competitive Coach of the Year on three occasions (2008, 2013 and 2017).
After seventeen years in Omaha, I left in May 2021 and moved to Dallas, Texas. In July 2021, I was named the ECNL Director at Sting Dallas Black and served in this position for two years before relocating back to Kansas City.

In May 2023, I joined KC Scott Gallagher and served as the Director of Player Development.  After a short period at KC Scott Gallagher I joined KC Athletics and was named the girls ECNL Director in January of 2024.

In addition to my role at KC Athletics, I also serve as the President and Camp Director for Elite College Identification Camps Inc which is a non profit company that provides college recruitment education along with hosting some of the nations top college identification camps.

I am married to April Kelcher, and we have three kids, Elijah (14), Noah (11) and Kenneday (6).

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The life of a coach is a sacrificial one. I have spent a good part of the last twenty years on the fields for both home and away fixtures. A lot of time is spent away from the family which provides a lot of challenges.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
