Today we’d like to introduce you to Terresha Dinkel.
Hi Terresha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been involved in real estate with my family since the early 2000’s. We first got started renovating properties for ourselves and later began helping others navigate real estate situations with all we had learned. Our business grew steadily and organically which later allowed me to step away from my career and also serve real estate clients full time. Prior to that I worked with Medicare clients nationwide as an award-winning sales leader and professional. My experience consulting extensively with seniors and their families throughout major lifestyle decisions aligned seamlessly with becoming a Seniors Real Estate Specialist® & my ability to provide personalized action plans for homeowners making real estate transitions with important financial decisions on the line.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a small business owner isn’t easy. I’m a perfectionist and I wanted to learn everything I didn’t know as quickly as possible. While no two real estate transactions are the same, with experience and a lot of hard work I honed in on the process & roadmap that nearly every downsizing move tends to follow when families sell their home. Some of the homeowners I help haven’t sold or bought a home in 30 or 40 years (or more!) It’s important sellers understand what buyers are looking for in the current market so we can prepare for the best outcomes. I never wanted to be a TikTok real estate agent and spend all day on my phone making content. While we certainly use digital media in our business as it’s crucial in today’s market, my focus is making the families I work with the priority and ensure they feel supported each step of the way. A downsizing move is almost always the last & largest physical asset a family sells. I spend a lot of time with the families throughout the journey from preparation to closing day & as a result it’s hard to not see them as often once their home sells. What keeps me going is knowing that many other families need my help.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Seniors Real Estate Specialist®, I specialize in helping seniors and their families through real estate transitions including downsizing, purchasing single-level living homes, combining households to multigenerational-living homes and managing real estate investment portfolios. Of course, you don’t have to be a senior to work with us but as I often say, “downsizing is different.” I’d consider myself an old soul more aligned with slow living. I love conversations and hearing people’s stories & it’s an honor to work with the families I do. Most people don’t know Seniors Real Estate Specialists® exist and that there is support for each step of the process you may need – from decluttering, estate sales, handyman punch lists, finding a home inspector, choosing a title company, negotiating contracts, and of course move management services. My clients count on me to be their real estate agent, coach, guide, cheerleader, and coordinator of the many moving parts that go into the sale of a home – especially when life may be changing on its own – navigating health challenges, being an exhausted caregiver of a loved one or feeling overwhelmed with tending to a home the way you once did. I couldn’t do what I do without the support of the amazing people around me – my team, transaction coordinator and title experts, talented real estate photographers, lenders, experienced home inspectors and the many local professionals – who surround the families I’m able to serve. It really does take a village! I’m proud that we are able to help seniors feeling overwhelmed with the downsizing process or a new move and simplify it as much as possible by providing professional, personalized and patient service. No matter the reason you may find yourself in a real estate transition, we strive to help you feel supported and celebrate the little things along the way, working hard and having some fun too. I am a member of the Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors ® | Heartland MLS, the Lawrence Board of Realtors ®, and the Sunflower Association of Realtors ® and serve families in Greater Kansas City, Lawrence & Topeka. Our team BD Real Estate Solutions, is an award winning team proud to be powered by Platinum Realty, KC’s #1 transaction brokerage.
