Renea, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
After closing an award-winning wedding cake business, helping my husband recover from colon cancer, and launching a travel business in the middle of a pandemic, I never imagined my journey would lead to helping others turn their passion for travel into purpose and income.
In 2020, I founded Astound Travel & Tours — right as the world was shutting down. While others were putting travel dreams on pause, I chose to prepare for what would come next. During that time, I immersed myself in training videos, webinars, and certifications, determined to be ready when travel reopened.
When the world began to move again, I packed my bags and headed to the Caribbean — not just for vacation, but to experience firsthand what post-pandemic travel would look like. That trip changed everything. It reminded me that travel has the power to heal, restore, and transform us — and it became the foundation of my business and my personal mission.
Today, Astound Travel & Tours thrives through client referrals, travel supplier partnerships, continued education, and hands-on experiences around the world. I also mentor others who want to build a travel business of their own. Together, my team has explored all 50 states and numerous countries — using our collective experience to create unforgettable journeys for travelers everywhere.
This business has truly been a life-changer. It’s allowed me to grow personally, serve others with purpose, and live a life that’s aligned with who I’m called to be. My story is a reminder that it’s never too late to pursue your passion — and that success comes when you lead with authenticity, service, and faith.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I launched Astound Travel & Tours in 2020, the entire world was shutting down. Travel came to a complete stop — not exactly the ideal time to start a travel business!
At the time, I was working for a bankruptcy law firm that I loved, but the firm closed during the pandemic, forcing all of us to find new paths. I eventually landed at the Jackson County Courthouse and later found a better fit working at a local children’s hospital. Those career transitions taught me flexibility and perseverance — lessons that have carried over into my business.
While travel was paused, I used the downtime to learn everything I could — earning certifications, completing training programs, and attending webinars. I wanted to be ready when the world opened back up.
When it did, a new challenge emerged: rebuilding confidence in travel. People were hesitant and policies were constantly changing. I had to become not just a travel advisor, but a guide and a source of reassurance.
Balancing a full-time job while building a business has never been easy. There are long nights and early mornings, but consistency and passion keep me moving forward. Another ongoing challenge has been keeping my travel team engaged and motivated — learning that leadership isn’t about pushing people, but inspiring them to see what’s possible.
Looking back, every obstacle has shaped me into a more patient, resourceful, and grounded business owner. The road hasn’t been easy, but it’s made me stronger and even more committed to helping others experience what travel can do for their lives.

Through travel, I’ve truly found the best of both worlds — being able to design meaningful experiences for clients, while also sharing a business opportunity with others who have a genuine passion for travel.
On one side, I work directly with clients to curate personalized trips that help them rest, reconnect, and rediscover themselves. I specialize in group and adult-only experiences that go beyond sightseeing — they’re about transformation, community, and creating lasting memories.
My brand’s tagline, “Let the Experience Change You,” reflects exactly what I believe travel can do. Each itinerary is thoughtfully designed to create moments that shift perspective — whether it’s a solo traveler finding peace, a couple rekindling connection, or a group of women celebrating milestones together.
What sets Astound Travel & Tours apart is the level of care and detail that goes into every experience. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all travel. Every recommendation, partnership, and itinerary is built around my clients’ individual needs and the kind of experience they want to have.
On the other side, I also introduce motivated, travel-minded individuals to the business side of the industry. Many already love planning trips for friends and family, and I simply show them how to earn from what they love doing. It’s rewarding to watch them grow, learn the business, and begin booking travel for their own clients.
What I’m most proud of brand-wise is how authentic the journey has been. I’ve built something that aligns with my values — serving others, creating opportunities, and helping people experience the healing and joy that travel brings. For me, success isn’t about hype or numbers — it’s about impact, purpose, and transformation.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
First and foremost, I give credit to God for ordering my steps and giving me the strength, peace, and clarity to keep going — especially when the road hasn’t been easy. Every opportunity, connection, and moment of growth has truly been a blessing.
I’m also incredibly grateful for my husband, Mark, my daughter Brianna, and my bonus son, Xylan Grant. They’ve all been my biggest supporters, sounding boards, and cheerleaders. From celebrating milestones to helping me stay grounded when things get busy, their encouragement means the world to me.
I also appreciate the leadership within my organization who laid the foundation and created the systems that allow so many of us to build successful travel businesses. The ongoing access to tools, training, webinars, conferences, and supplier education has been invaluable. I’ve learned so much from those opportunities, and they’ve played a major role in helping me develop both personally and professionally.
And, of course, my amazing clients deserve a huge amount of credit. Their trust and loyalty keep this business thriving. Many of them have become like family — referring others, sharing feedback, and reminding me why I do what I do.
