n 2022, I made the decision to take my passion for beauty and lash artistry seriously. What began as a personal interest quickly became a professional pursuit as I completed over six advanced courses to ensure I mastered every aspect of lash extensions, client care, and business management. My goal was simple: to provide an exceptional experience for every client who trusted me with their beauty journey.
That commitment led me to open my first salon in Philadelphia, originally known as Claro Lashes. Building that business taught me the value of education, resilience, and adaptability. While I loved serving my clients, I faced challenges along the way. Some guests weren’t always as welcoming as I’d hoped, and I found myself dreaming of new goals and new horizons. As a military wife, I’ve learned that change often brings opportunity. When my wife received her active-duty orders, we were given the chance to relocate to Kansas City, and I knew it was time to begin a new chapter.
After moving to Kansas, I decided to return to school to complete my esthetician licensing, expanding my expertise beyond lashes to offer a wider range of services. Today, I proudly operate Aesthetics by Nalani in Mission, Kansas, where I provide lash extensions, body waxing, and brow services with the same care and dedication that started my journey.
My mission with Aesthetics by Nalani is to create a warm, inclusive, and empowering environment where clients can feel confident, cared for, and beautiful. As I complete my licensing and work toward securing my own facility, I remain committed to growth, education, and excellence in every service I provide.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting over in a new city brought its own set of challenges. Moving to Kansas City meant I had to rebuild from scratch, which wasn’t always easy. While I loved the idea of starting fresh, there were plenty of obstacles along the way. I’ve faced difficult work environments, experienced lack of pay from facilitators, and unfortunately, even encountered failed partnerships.
There were days when showing up for class felt impossible, when engaging with clients seemed overwhelming, and when creating content just didn’t come naturally. I also struggled with managing finances, which is a challenge for many small business owners, especially in the early stages. Finding high-quality, reputable products to meet my standards was another ongoing hurdle.
Despite these setbacks, I’ve never let them define my path. Each struggle has been a lesson in perseverance, pushing me to be more resourceful and more determined to succeed. These challenges have only fueled my passion for building a business that I am proud of, and they continue to shape the way I approach my work and client relationships today.

Many people might be surprised to learn that before I became a beauty professional, I wanted to be a principal dancer. My mom is an entrepreneur in Wilmington, Delaware, where she owns a dance studio. She’s been a huge influence on my life, teaching me dance since I could walk. Growing up in that environment, I had dreams of performing on stage, and dance was my first true love.
While my path ultimately led me to the beauty industry, the discipline, creativity, and dedication I learned through dance have shaped my approach to my work. Much like dance, running Aesthetics by Nalani requires precision, artistry, and a passion for constant growth—values that I carry from my dance background into my business today.
